It should be pointed out to all that the only officially supported host OS for Threadripper is Windows 10 X64 version 1703 and higher. There are multiple threads here explaining this as well as plenty of information available via search and from AMD. So, it should be no surprise to anyone that some aspects of Linux applications do not work as expected. Enjoy, John.

It depends on your host OS. If your host OS is Linux and if you like to use PCI-passthrough, then KVM, Xen and VirtualBox do not work. There is an issue in the PCIe subsystem preventing proper powersave management of PCIe devices, ending in PCIe devices not waking up properly from D3 state. This issue affects all X399 mainboards out there.

Dear JoishB, Greetings, this is ASRock TSD. AMD X399 Platform can support virtualization technology. Please press [Del] to enter BIOS when POST. Then enable following options. 1. BIOS > Advanced > CPU Configuration SVM Mode -> set enabled 2. BIOS > Advanced > North Bridge Configuration SR-IOU -> set enabled. After that, please press F10 to save the setting. Thanks! All the best, ASRock TSD |
