X399 Professional - Flashing red light |

If anyone can help, powering up MB (just by turning on supply) shows only flashing red light and no dr. codes. Bios usb flash doesn't work and just holds steady green. Everything is out of MB, only the 24pin supply connected for usb bios update per instructions from asrock. Is this a bad MB? Already tried a different supply and 2 other usb drives.

This MB req's 3 power connections.
24-pin on right side 8-pin at upper right corner 4-pin at upper left corner |

As you know, the BIOS Flashback feature instructions say only to connect the 24 pin ATX power connector to the board, and only turn on the PSU power switch. The PSU's +5V Standby rail is the only power used for the BIOS Flashback feature. Do you have the USB flash drive in the specific USB BIOS Flashback port?  The solid green LED indicates a problem with the Flashback feature. You can only use the one specific USB port in the picture, and press and hold the Flashback button for three seconds. Sorry, I'm not sure if you did all of these things from your post. Did you still have the problem after following the procedure? Some PSUs have lower powered +5V Standby rails, but you must be using a higher power PSU with an X399 system. You won't see any codes on the Dr Debug display while using the Flashback feature, that is normal. Please check the instructions for the correct procedure. |

Me bad. Sorry. There is the matter that the TR 1900X req's BIOS rev 1.30 too. Now if we only knew what the OP's system specs are............ |

Yep, tried all that several times with and without the other power connectors. NO cpu is installed and all I get is the switch flashing about 3 times then solid green on the switch. The MB still flashes red and no codes. I just wondered what the flashing red means. I've tried different supplies and different usb drives to no avail. At this point it's got to be a bad MB. |

dhlav and jthomas2asrock, please post your specifications in your signature as I have. I see no one has asked about your USB stick. Is it formatted FAT32? Did you copy the BIOS file to the stick and rename it creative.rom? Did you do a safe removal of the stick after writing it? Unfortunately I do not know the meaning of the flashing red LED. Someone please open an ASRock ticket and ask Technical Support. This is a user forum and almost no one from ASRock reads/posts here. I have used the Flash Back process with no problems. Enjoy, John.

I'm trying to do an initial power up:
TR1950x Corsair Hydro H100 v2 Fatal1ty X399 Professional Gaming 2x16 GB RAM (G.SKILL TridentZ - in the recommended slots) 1000 watt EVGA G3 1000 power supply So nothing too exciting here. Just won't start up. If I disconnect CPU power I get the same light sequence and no Dr. Debug. I guess next step is to send DOA back to newegg. |

jthomas2asrock, I really do not have any real information on what is going on in your system. If you think you need to RMA the board, then do not worry about these questions. Can you boot into BIOS? If so, why are you trying to use Flash Back? If you can, please do a F9 then F10 and tell us any debug code. If you cannot get into BIOS do a Clear CMOS, then see if you can. Try one memory stick and then the other, one at a time. If you are trying to boot up your system, both 8-pin and 4-pin CPU power cables need to be connected in addition to the 24-pin. You did not comment on my Flash Back USB stick requirements, so I assume all is good. Good luck and enjoy, John.

I just did the BIOS flashback to see if anything worked on the motherboard. At this point not making any headway so I'll try re-purchasing the motherboard and see what happens.
