J3455B-ITX cannot access BIOS

I have recently built a box with J3455B-ITX and have installed the latest pfSense on it.

I have been having major problems with latency spikes with this board/CPU. Not sure if it's an OS problem or hardware problem. Anyway, I'm trying to get into the BIOS to have a look see if any settings can be changed to reduce my latency spikes (any advice appreciated here).

However, when I reboot and press F2 or DEL, I am taken to a completely black blank screen. Has anyone seen this before? Any way other way of accessing the BIOS? I have tried numerous times.

Ad accessing BIOS: I had issues as well, but I've solved them by setting 5sec boot menu delay AND by using the HDMI connector instead of the VGA

Hi, I installed pfSense rather easily as per the pfSense documentation. It went quite smoothly if I'm honest. See my response below regarding PCIe NIC. 

Will try your suggestion for BIOS, how did you set 5 sec boot menu?

URL doesn't work, but I'm afraid mine was quite simple, I didn't need to do any additional installation as such it was just plug and play for me. Perhaps the pfSense software came with the necessary drivers? For reference, the card I used was DELL INTEL 1000 PRO PCI-E QUAD GIGABIT NETWORK CARD - YT674 - D96950-006

How do I change the "Setup Prompt Timeout" when I can't access the BIOS? I also can't check BIOS version as still having problems getting in to it, I am getting no video output on my HDMI.

It seems to just be issues with the booting, I can't seem to find any issues relating to network latency. Either way, that's off topic for this post, I want  to try and get access to my BIOS

Hi, thank you. Clearing CMOS helped :). The motherboard says revision 1.02 and my BIOS says UEFI version P1.20. Hope that helps you

I think I'm going to try to downgrade to pfSense 2.3.5 to see if fixes my latency issues. Are there any settings in the BIOS I should look at changing regarding what may be causing network latency issues that you are aware of? I think I read to turn C States off, I may try it
