Bios updated to latest version 4.63. System still cannot detect Samsung EVO 960 in the Ultra M.2 slot.  Double checked that drive is seated properly...

BetterJake, have you cleared CMOS or done an F9 and F10 in the BIOS/UEFI?  Please post all your specifications.  Enjoy, John.

BetterJake, sure the 960 is plugged into the M2_1 socket - middle not bottom of board?  What is your power supply?  Do you have the power cable plugged into the 8-pin CPU socket and is it the CPU and not the PCIe cable?  Does the 960 get warm and can you see in it your BIOS/UEFI?  Enjoy, John.

I'm running P4.60 on my HTPC build and currently my Samsgun 960 EVO nvme M.2 is connected via M2_2 socket (which I didn't think would work consider its sata...), but is running apparently as PCIe 3.0 x 1

Unfortunately I've had no luck getting it to work in M2_1 socket. It appears in BIOS but it plays up/acts funny, it wont always show up, and in such situations, unplugging and replugging power (after a shutdown) shows its after, but does not make it a bootable device.

Happy to help out if it means we get a patch sooner rather than later.

Yes I am sure it is plugged into the M2_1 socket.

Powersupply:

SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze EVO Edition 520W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS 12V v2.91 SLI 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

The 960 does get warm but cannot be detected in UEFI/BIOS

BetterJake, please try what abasees did and plug your 960 in the M2_2 socket and see if it works. This should tell us if your 960 is good.  Did you check your 8-pin CPU power plug?

abasee, I think you need to try BIOS/UEFI BETA 4.63.  It may well work for you.  Please post your specifications and make sure you have the 8-pin CPU (not PCPIe) plugged properly.
Enjoy, John.

EDIT:  I just discovered, using Samsung Magician, that there is a new microcode release.  I will update mine and let you hear how it goes.  Magician will also tell you what the Interface is.

I just updated my 960s' Firmware .  It takes about 20 seconds and does a SHUTDOWN.  Since I am not running a RAID right now, I just selected and updated each one.  If I have been running a RAID I would have had to break down the RAID so Samsung Magician could see them. Old was Firmware 7B7QCXE7, new is 3B7QCXE7.  Enjoy, John.

It was not recognized in the M_2 slot. Yes I am using the correct power plug.

Thanks, BetterJake.  I recommend you open an ASRock Support ticket a request an RMA.  Sorry, John.
