Hi Guys,
I did a cursory search on this issue and couldn't find a solution to a problem I am experiencing. Here's the story: I have an ASRock Z170 Extreme6. All of my non-media files (Windows and games) reside on a SanDisk 256gb SSD. I recently purchased a 970 EVO NVMe M.2 SSD on a really good sale thinking it would be an upgrade. My idea was to clone my SanDisk SSD to this new one. I finally got around to installing the M.2 SSD today. As you can probably guess, I ran into some issues. After I installed the M.2 SSD into its slot, it appeared in my list of bootable drives in UEFI, HOWEVER, my SanDisk disappeared form that list. I freaked out and eventually read on these forums that the PCIe M.2 slot shares the SATA3_0 and SATA3_1 bandwidth. I got stoked thinking I just solved all my problems. I opened up my case again and switched my old SanDisk SSD to SATA3_3. That did nothing. The SanDisk was still not listed as a bootable drive. The system browser in the UEFI saw it, but it wasn't listed as bootable. My regular media HDD was listed as bootable just fine, though. As soon as I removed the M.2 SSD, I was able to boot from the old SanDisk SSD in SATA3_3. It seems like installing the M.2 SSD somehow overrides my existing SSD? I hope all of this makes sense. Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated. Sincerely, Pants

Dear Pants0n,
Thank you for choosing ASRock.
Regarding your case, because the
Hard Driver BBS Priorities set to the M.2 SSD, the SanDisk SSD will not show at
boot list. Please select the SanDisk SSD
to the first Hard Driver BBS Priorities, after that, the system can boot into
SanDisk SSD when Samsung SSD installed. BIOS Path: Boot > Hard Driver
BBS Priorities > Boot Option #1
Thank you! Yours truly, ASRock TSD |
