New Build, No Video, No Beep

   I have the following setup and am getting no video and no BIOS beeps.

ASRock Z170A-X1/3.1
Intel 4512 Core i7 6700K LGA 1151
Crucial 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR4 2666 MT/s (PC4-21300) SR X8 DIMM 288-Pin Memory - CT2K8G4DFS8266

I have a monitor connected via DVI.
RAM is installed in A2 and B2.

The CPU fan comes on, power light is on, no video, and no beeps.

Any thoughts on what's going on? I've swapped the RAM once when there appeared to be some issues with the RAM.

	Make sure the 8pin CPU power is connected and that it is the correct connector (4+4 not 6+2). You can also observe your indicator LEDs (power and HDD). If you are getting a flashing HDD LED then odds are, you have an issue with your display cable.

	The 8pin is a 4+4. The HDD indicator light is not flashing during startup. I did clone the SDD from another SDD so I would presume it works, but perhaps not.

	My system is: . Z170A-X1/3.1 . i5-7500 CPU . 32 GB RAM (in A2/B2 slots) . 512GB SSD . Gforce 1050 . EVGA 500W GD PS When powering on the fans come on for a couple of seconds then turn off for some seconds and then on again repeating the pattern. No video on either the 1050 or on the on-board DVI-D port. No beeping. I first had another PS and replaced it. Then I replaced i5-6400 for the i5-7500. And the issue is still happening. What could it be?

	Clear CMOS, pull the battery and disconnect power from the PSU for about 20 mins or so. What you are describing is usually RAM related. It could also be bent pins in the CPU socket. Double check your socket and also make sure the RAM is seating all the way into the slot. On occasion the RAM slots can be very snug and need a bit of force. Make sure your board's BIOS supports the 7500, the version the board shipped with is printed on a small white label on the BIOS chip. If you can get your hands on a basic 4gb stick of RAM (2133 - 2666) that your board is guaranteed to support that would help too. good luck and let us know how you get on.

	OK, finally got some 8GB RAM to try out. [URL=http://flic.kr/p/2jj8sdj]Seated properly[/URL] Also removed the CMOS battery and set the jumper to clear for over an hour. Still the same issue is happening. [URL=http://flic.kr/p/2jjcCae]CPU socket[/URL] looks good to me. [URL=https://flic.kr/p/2jj8seg]Seating CPU[/URL] and [URL=http://flic.kr/p/2jj8seg]locking CPU[/URL] is not giving issue. [URL=http://flic.kr/p/2jj8seS]Donned with cooler[/URL] it all looks correctly installed, but it's not working. What else can it be? (p.s. not sure why the links are not working?)

	You mentioned you had an i5 6400, you can use that to flash your BIOS which, if it has not been updated since the board left the factory, is only P2.20. The system will not POST or allow you into the BIOS without a CPU that is supported by the BIOS version you have.

	Yes, That's what I thought too. After removal of the paste, I discovered that the old CPU was an 15-7400, thus both CPU's are Kaby Lake. I found [URL=http://forum.asrock.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=4420&title=100-series-motherboards-and-kaby-lake]100-series-motherboards-and-kaby-lake[/URL] post and realized that the not POST-ing is because my BIOS is not compatible. I've now created a tech-support case for a new BIOS chip as I'm unable to flash the BIOS myself with the given CPU's. I'll let you know once the new BIOS arrives.
