So far all the memory modules that have a lower latency rating than CL22 say they require XMP configuration to hit the CL16. Any word on the 4800U getting XMP option in the bios£

I emailed the suggestion to Tech Support. No way this box would get the fancy memory over clocking stuff available on full blown gaming mother boards. It shouldn't. BUT to have a simple option, "JEDEC or XMP" in Memory Configuration when the XMP information is stored on the memory module£ Seems reasonable.

IF ASRock added it the performance increase would push their 4x4's into the lead performance wise over competitors.

Typically this kind of thing comes down from the CPU/Chipset manufacturer. If ASRock
were permitted to enable functionality, they likely would have. This kind of thing
is a restriction on the AGESA level, not something any manufacturer can easily
bypass or hack. If you would like to see XMP implemented it's AMD you need to petition.
They would have to add the functionality to the AGESA for the 4800u platform.
Given how unreliable XMP is, it makes sense that they did not accommodate for it
on a platform designed for industrial use. The problem is that DDR4 has seen so
many iterations and had it's standards changed so many times.

Understandable. Still would like to know. Out of the box things like IOMMU were not in the bios. Asrock added those things. AMD wasn£™t involved. Entirely possible and I agree with the ASRock boxes being intended for industrial use so you go for stable over cutting edge performance. But AMD doesn£™t tell ASRock which market niche do they£

Isnt£that ASRock£™s decision£ The ASUS boxes aren£™t £œindustrial£division. I have no idea of XMP is available as a choice for ASUS. Haven£™t seen an ASUS 4800U. 4300/4500/4700.

Worth finding out I suppose.

Even some of the slower ram modules in the CL16/17 range are XMP only. So the choice to drop down to 29333/CL17 which would probably perform better isn£™t a choice either.
