To all those that review this post, make sure your Thunderbolt 3 AIS R2.0 card is plugged into the recommended PCIe slot on your motherboard (see page 3 of the manual: https://download.asrock.com/Manual/Thunderbolt%203%20AIC%20R2.0.pdf). Unfortunately, page 3 doesn't come as part of the user manual with the thunderbolt card. One computer builder and one IT specialist couldn't figure this out. How frustrating and costly!

I have an ASRockZ390 Phantom Gaming 9 motherboard to which I've had an ASRock Thunderbolt 3 AIC R2.0 installed so that I can use a LaCie 6big Thunderbolt 3 drive with my PC. The PC will recognize the LaCie drive using a USB3 connection, but not using Thunderbolt. The Device Manager doesn't show the Thunderbolt card at all. I have updated Windows 10, the BIOS and the Thunderbolt driver from this site https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/736380/intel-thunderbolt-3-and-4-dch-driver-for-windows-10-and-window-11-for-intel-nuc-12-compute-element-elm12hb-x.html. The TB-TB, DP-DP and external miniDP-DP cables are all connected, one to the motherboard and one to the graphics card (EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Black Gaming). The Thunderbolt is turned on in the BIOS and I have attempted to approve the device in the Thunderbolt Control Centre. However, no device appears in order for me to approve its use.
If I understand the ASRock website correctly, the internal miniDP-DP cable is optional for cable management. Is this right or is it required? Is the ASRock Thunderbolt card compatible with non-ASRock graphics cards? Can anyone help me figure out why the Thunderbolt card isn't being recognized as a device on the computer and get this up and running? I've one computer builder and one IT specialist take a look at this and they haven't been able to get it up and running. Thanks so much. |

So I bought the AsRock Thunderbolt 3 AIC R2.0 card adaptor.
I connected to my AsRock X570 Taichi motherboard in a pci slot as well as the AIC port, and the display port on the graphics card. I've updated the BIOS. I've downloaded and installed the latest drivers from AsRock's website. Updated Windows 10. Changed the settings in the BIOS to: Thunderbolt Support = Enabled Security Level = No Security and still nothing. Please help. :) |

Dear Alkiv,
Thank you for choosing ASRock.
Regarding your case, we have tested at our lab, with the latest BIOS 3.10. Thunderbolt 3 EGPU can work properly. This is our system configuration: CPU: i7-8700 PCIE: ASRock Thunderbolt 3 AIC (at PCIE6 slot) BIOS: P3.10 Thunderbolt 3 Device: AKiTiO Node External GPU with GTX 1060 Please try to disable the Thunderbolt at BIOS and enable it again.
Thank you! Yours truly, ASRock TSD Edited by ASRock_TSD - 20 Jul 2018 at 2:02pm |

I have exactly same problem with Z370, Gaming K6. After I have purchased asrock thunderbolt 3 card, everything worked ok with bios 1.6.
But after 1.8 bios update, and at the current time (version 3) - my external e-gpu not working anymore. Nothing in hardware configuration was changed, thunderbolt 3 activated in bios - but it - still NOT WORK. |

Yes, I did connect the AIC connector
I get the iBuyPower logo on boot. Unfortunately they don't seem to have a technical forum. But their support page claims "award winning support". https://www.ibuypower.com/Support

Did you connect the Thunderbolt cable to the AIC connector as listed on page 24 of the manual ?
When you boot into BIOS do you see an Asrock logo or an IbuyPower logo ? If you see IbuyPower then the motherboard is OEM and you have to get tech support through them, if you see Asrock logo then you came to the right place and we will try to help you. Note: Asrock OEM boards are only supported by the OEM company. |
