And am i correct in saying that, as this board has dual bios, I only have to do one of the bios chips.
I can then update the other once Im up and running?

According to the specs for all ASRock dual BIOS boards, it will take a little trick to do that.

For example:

Note this states, "For the sake of system safety, users cannot update the backup BIOS manually".

Which should mean, if the backup BIOS (BIOS_B) is selected with the jumper or switch, a BIOS update cannot be performed on BIOS_B.

I have never tried this personally, and have never heard of anyone saying they were able to update the BIOS_B.

Assuming this is correct, what can be done about it is this. The Broadwell-E compatible BIOS version (I assume) is in the BIOS_A socket now. You can simply exchange the BIOS chips, putting the chip in the BIOS_A socket in the BIOS_B socket, and vice versa.

Next, you select the BIOS_B with the jumper or switch, and then perform the Secure Backup UEFI operation, to copy it to the chip that is now in the BIOS_A socket.

Finally, when that is complete, set the BIOS selection jumper or switch to BIOS_A, and you are done. You should check that all your settings in the BIOS are as you need them, once you change to BIOS_A.

The first Broadwell-E compatible BIOS version then becomes your backup BIOS version, which is what you want, when using either a Haswell-E or Broadwell-E processor.

Thanks for the detailed post Parsec, that's what I was thinking too.

@Mango, if you get your BIOS updated at a store then follow Parsec's instructions to sort out BIOS B. If you are purchasing a new BIOS chip you can install it in socket B from the start and just have BIOS B selected with the jumper the secure flash it to BIOS A and you are good to go.

Ok... so...
I replaced the bios chip with a V3, did this myself, was easy... biggest part was draining the system. to transfer settings from A-> is easy, option in bios to transfer bios version from one chip to the other. Its just a simple switch on the mobo to select A or B chip to boot from.
So, the good news is, it boots, I can get into bios and have even installed windows, took less than 10 mins to install.

the problems I'm having now are;
- If I restart the comp, it powers up for a few second and then shuts down, I have to manually power up again. It does this every time.
- My ram is 3200Mhz but shows as.. 2600. I load xml profile and it shows the ram running at the correct speed. however, when I do this, it dropd the cpu clock speed from 3.4 to 2.6. Theres an option in the xml profile to alter the BCLK which ups the cpu speed to the correct value. However, when I save and restart, it loses the settings of the BCLK so I can't seem to get the ram and cpu both running at the correct speed.
- Lastly, my win 10 keeps saying im missing some network protocols. I don't mind about this, im sure ill find a way around it. I'll try a different version of windows 10.

Bottom line is, my PC is up and running :D
The problems above are just tweaks, im sure of it so i'll have fun trying to figure it out.
any pointers would be appreciated though :)

Thanks, mango
