Hello everyone.

I recently bought AsRock Z790 Steel Legend Wifi motherboard.
I also bough a Asus 4070TI super GPU.

I can't fit the GPU on the motherboard because the aluminiumplate over the sata ports on the motherboard is too high so the gpu cant go down in the PCIe lane 1.

I don't really want to spend tons of money on a vertical mount kit for the gpu..

Can anyone please help me? If the solution is to remove the heatsink can you please explain how to do that.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forums. The M.2 heatsinks can be removed by removing the 2 screws
that hold them onto the board, one on each end. They have "M.2 Blazing" and "M.2
Armor" printed on them. You should not remove any of the other heatsinks as they
are critical to the function of the board. Those M.2 heatsinks can be safely removed
however and won't effect anything negatively. If you use an M.2 drive that requires
cooling then place it in the slot where the heatsink can still fit.

Hi, yeah but it is not one of the SSD heatsinks that are in the way it is the larger heatsink behind the PCIe1 slot. I need it lowered by 2mm or so because it prevents the gpu of snapping in place.

Ok got it to work by physically pushing up up the motherboard under the pcie contact but it is a very tight fit.
