Hello,
ASRock x570 Steel Legend motherboard Storage = Corsair Force MP600 m.2 2280 1 TB Gen4 (https://www.newegg.com/corsair-force-mp600-1tb/p/N82E16820236548) GPU = EVGA RTX 2070 Super XC (https://www.newegg.com/evga-geforce-rtx-2070-super-08g-p4-3173-kr/p/N82E16814487453) I had to take the heat sink off the m2 so it would fit under the Steel Legend m2 heat sink (big "U" shaped). The GPU is so long it covers up the fan on the Steel Legend's U-Shaped m2 heat sink. I am considering just removing the Steel Legend U-Shaped m2 heat sink, disabling the m2 fan, put the heat sink back on the Corsair m2 drive and plug it into the second m2 slot. Or what would you do? Thanks, Shirva33 |

The cooler/FAN is mainly for the X570 chipset, not for the M2 slots.
And it is badly placed, yes, like on so much other X570 boards too (vendor independent). I would not disable the fan until you have another adequate cooler solution... I would try to use the boards m2 heatsink. But anyway, test, watch the temperatures and make your decisions based on the results. |

So the x570 chipset fan would blow up into the GPU.
I'll give it a go and see how the temps look. thanks for the reply. Shirva33 |

I got a reply back from ASRock support.
>> You may remove the M.2 armor, and install your Corsair MP600 and GFX that is fine. |

I am also interested in using the heatsink that comes with the M.2 SSD(Corsair Force MP600 M.2 2280 1TB PCI-Express Gen 4.0 x4 NVMe 3D TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CSSD-F1000GBMP600). Is it possible to cut off just the M.2 portion of the cover so the rest of the Asrock cover/fan could remain in place?

My x570 Steel Legend motherboard is running great .. but .. the PCIe slot for the graphics card is poorly placed too close to the CPU so it if you are running a large air cooler (like I am) .. it will sit on top of the graphics cards back plate.
So that's 2 bad design flaws for this mobo. |

Is the x570 M.2 and chipset cover made out of metal? Plastic? Can the M.2 arm be cut off?

it's a big chunk of aluminum .. see if you can buy one off of ebay or similar and mod it so when you go to resell you mobo down the road .. you can put the original back on
... or not |
