Hey all, does anyone here have any of the new Ryzen 5000 series CPUs with the x470 Taichi board with the latest 4.60 BIOS? And if so how is it running? Were there any issues? I'm just asking because as soon as I find a 5900x in stock I will buy it and replace my 3700x. I already got real lucky and managed to buy a EVGA 3070 XC3 Ultra, just last week, thank's to EVGA's auto notify :D

Thanks

Only thing I've ran into with AGESA's above 1.0.0.8 .. is not being able to run my RAM above XMP profile .. that's on 2 different x570 ASRock motherboard's .. the Taichi and Steel Legend. Other than that, you should see a healthy improvement in overall system performance

Ah, I see, hmmm I'm running 32GB in a 4x8 at 3200 CL14 with no issues with XMP but I'm not looking to go higher . Still not sure yet as I have a x470 and you have 2 x570 boards. I guess we should wait. I just saw on Gamers Nexus AMD should be releasing new AGESA code. "AMD AGESA 1.1.9.0 BIOS Update" All I want is a smooth experience with no issues :D I don't overclock and leave the RAM with XMP as it is. But thanks for your feedback with your x570 boards.

I went from x570 Taichi with 3900x with RAM at 3600Mhz c15 to 5950x on same motherboard and it now refuses to even give me any meaningful Dr Debug code with 3600Mhz any timing. 3533Mhz is stable, yet higher timings than with previous set up. So I believe the latest BIOSes are not up to scratch in regards to memory compatibility, and I really believe you would struggle with 4x8Gb. However as mentioned above new Agesa is coming. Not sure when will it show up for Asrock motherboards :)

I'm running a 5800x on my x470 Taichi and not had one single issue so far. XMP works for 3600 CL14 with Team Group Xtreme 8pack memory and already been messing with PBO2, which again, this is the first time PBO has actually given me a performance boost and not a deficit with a ton of added pointless heat and volts.

If anyone is interested, I'm using a negative value of 15 all core in curve optimiser and +150mhz allowance. I've not really tried to push anymore, as each core on this 5800x hits 5ghz. I'll be reducing PPT and EDC next to see if it has a positive impact on temps without loss of performance, as I ran my 3900x at a fixed voltage of 1.28v which kept temps low and performance was at it's best (7700+ in cinebench R20).

As for BIOS, I updated to BIOS 4.60 about 2 weeks ago as it's the only BIOS that's been stable for RAM OC since 3.90, but I'll wait for further BIOS revisions before I bother going for 3800 CL14 or better, as apparently there's a small chance of 4000mhz RAM (seen no evidence of anyone achieving this yet however).

BIOS 4.10 and 4.20 I found were garbage for memory support too, not sure if anyone else found the same... but then most BIOS releases from ASRock are utter garbage I've found. It's a shame, the hardware is pretty much unmatched especially at the price point, but I've had this motherboard since my 2700x and it took forever to bring a bios with stable RAM overclocking... fortunately I've never had an issue with XMP settings with b-die memory though.

Hmm, being the x470 Taichi is a T-topology board not a daisy chain board with regards to how RAM should be installed. This board likes all slots filled up vs only 2. I think the ram should be ok :D @KungFuSpaghetti that's great I see it works with no issues your 5800x on the x470, and you have it a 3600 with CL14, tight timmings for 3600mhz with all 4 slots filled. I'm still running 3.60 as I see no reason to upgrade yet, until I have my 5900x in my hands. I heard that as well 4.10 & 4.20 were trash not worth it to upgrade to those versions. I'm not sure we will be able to hit 4000mhz ram even with the next bios update, that would be awesome if it did. But I'm not buying more ram again lol. I bought 16GB 2 yrs and just this year added the same exact 16GB for 32GB in all 4 slots. I have the B-Die G.SKILL Flare X ram. Oh one more thing, I saw on Hardware Unboxed. If you run all 4 slots you get a slight performance boost, though I don't see it lol. I think yours and my ram are single ranked. So running all 4 slots makes it run dual channel but now dual ranked. Oh one more thing I forgot to ask, with bios 4.60 did AsRock include that new Resizable BAR in the bios settings with the x470 boards?

Performance boosts are artificial. 5000 series on its own is unbelievably fast CPUs.The performance increase is there but its not high enough for you to register it
