All,

Started my first ever build, turning out to be a nightmare. Initial build had 2 red lights as noted, returned motherboard and DRAM; just installed ONLY CPU, CPU Cooler and DRAM this time.. damn Red Lights. L1700 Intel Chip, DDR4 RAM (2 sticks).. all fully compatible.

Tried moving DRAM to other 2 slots (which is not what is recommended).. nothing. There's a fundamental problem I've got here that I'm just not grasping (yes I double checked seating of CPU with the arrow)

Help!!

Is the CPU a 13th gen CPU? If so, you may not have the right BIOS version on the
board to support it. 13th gen requires BIOS version 9.04 on that board. There should
be a sticker on the BIOS chip with a version number printed on it. If it is older
than 9.04 and you are in fact using a 13th gen CPU then you will either need to
take the board in somewhere to get updated or buy/borrow a cheap 12th gen CPU to
update with.

Good luck.

Try powering on with a single stick of RAM in slot A2. If that doesn't work, you
may want to RMA the CPU. A dead memory controller will cause those 2 lights to
remain lit and as you have already returned the board and RAM, the CPU becomes
the next most likely suspect.
