For maybe 2 years my CPU AIO cooler was broken and the CPU would overheat (100 degree C) and then get throttled ocassionally.
Disappointingly, there was no warning from the BIOs or from windows. So I suffered two years of various symtoms. I only found and fix the problem recently when I tried to debug a performance problem running video games. Is there a way to make BIOs issue a warning beep when the CPU overheats? Can I adjust the throttle temperature in BIOs? I want it to throttle at lower temperature. Although it's an old mobo I look at this as a learning experience. Check your temp monitoring section in the BIOS. If you don't have one connected
already you can also connect a PC speaker, most BIOS warning beeps play through that so if none is connected, you hear nothing. Dying/dead AIOs are annoying, I have had it happen to me too, it can be a real pain to figure out what is causing the issue, particularly if it's intermittent. I just got into the habit of keeping an eye on temps whenever I have crashing issues. |
