I have multiple SSDs requiring ATA passwords to sign on to the computer - is it possible to create a single sign on to unlock all SSDs so I only have to enter the password once, instead of 1 for each?
I realize this would require the same password for all SSDs |

Sorry, missed your first post. I don't have a quick answer for your question, except to say it might not be possible. Is your ATA passwords for the drives a feature of your board's UEFI/BIOS, or specific to the drives you are using? Not all current ASRock boards have this feature, and we have no idea what mother board you are using. Some ASRock boards have a feature called USB Key, that is used to store a username and password for logging in to Windows. But I'm sure this would work only at the Windows/OS level, and would not help you with ATA passwords. I get the feeling that ATA drive passwords do not have an automated, multiple drive capability, due to the nature of the specification, but I could be wrong. Have you ever searched the Internet for anything like you are looking for? |

I am running an Asrock X99M Extreme4 mobo with a special bios from Asrock that allows me to set a 32 character ATA password on SSDs. I am then using Samsung 850 Pro SSDs which have 256 bit AES hardware encryption.
I am also running a dual boot Ubuntu/windows setup with separate SSDs for each OS & will be adding a 3rd SSD for my media that I will also set an ATA password to encrypt it. I've searched the internet, but this is a very deep subject with not a lot of info persay. I will contact Asrock and see if they have any suggestions. Thanks for the help. |
