Hi, I'm trying to help out a friend with installing windows 11 onto a new m.2 He purchased a crucial p3 (CT1000P3SSD8) which says is compatible on crucial website. It was installed into the ultra m.2 slot and no other storage devices was connected. Unfortunately it will not show up in the bios or windows installer. We have tried many things with bios settings and nothing works. We updated the bios from 3.90 to 5.60 however this has also not worked. We have tried removing the cmos battery for 10 minutes also has not worked. Im struggling to find any info around this motherboard. I have checked the qvl storage list however most drives there are not available for purchase or are extremely expensive. Thanks.

His cpu: Ryzen 5 2600x

Update:

Updated to latest version of bios version 8.03 tried to plug drive into m2_1 and it still wouldn't show in bios or windows. I purchased a x16 nvme to pcie adapter and plugged the drive into this. Straight away this worked and the drive showed up in bios and was able to install windows 10 with no issues. The drive has the same speeds as if it were plugged into m2_1. I would assume this crucial p3 drive suffers from a compatibility issue that is not listed on asrock compatibility list for this motherboard.

crucial P3 isnt listed in asrock compatibility list, even tho that list is a bit old and i doubt i gets updated with new controllers releases
https://www.asrock.com/mb/amd/fatal1ty%20b450%20gaming%20k4/index.asp#Storage

some drives have non standart pinouts

here is a list of some drives
https://www.asrock.com/support/qa/Not%20Compatible%20Storage%20Device.pdf

P3 isnt listed, but further searches on google with this mobo and P3 yeld about same results...not booting, frozen at boot logo or not showing up

I'm having the same issue w/ my B450M/ac board & a crucial 1tb drive . I only have one place to plug it in , it says ULTRA M.2 pcie3x4 whatever that means . Does anyone know of a drive I can just plug in ? Jeez ! Why does this seem harder than it should be ?
