Were is the Speed shift technolgy setting in the bios? HWinfo64 says it support but not enabled
I also have VMT enabaled on bios HWinfo64 says it support but not enabled. |

"Speed shift technology"... what is Speed shift?  Do you mean SpeedStep Technology? You must, since there is no such thing as Speed shift. In your board's UEFI, you must first be in Advanced Mode. Then in the OC Tweaker Screen, click the CPU Configuration entry, which opens up a new screen. Intel SpeedStep Technology is on this screen, just before the Intel Turbo Boost Technology option. This is shown on page 61 of your board's manual: http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Manual/Z170%20Extreme4.pdf You have VMT enabled? What is VMT? Google or Yahoo search on VMT... Sorry, but I will not try to translate that one for you. |

Please, when posing questions like this know what you speak of. Intel's Speed Shift is not an option addressed by or in the BIOS. But instead it is "enabled" in/with Windows 10. |

Too, To the best of my knowledge. and feel free to prove me wrong on this one, Speed Shift is currently available only on mobile Skylake processors

It available on all SKYLAKE cpu cause it goes hand and hand with speedstep, it make the shift in cpu much much faster. And it is bios setting, Even Asus recently updated there bios the z170 (3007) to have it enabled by default

Yes you are right, Speed Shift is a new option in Skylake and refined in Kaby Lake processors. When enabled, it causes the change from a low processor speed when Speed Step is enabled (800MHz), and from a higher C State power saving level (C6 or C7 for example) to a higher processor speed, and the full on, C0 state.
Intel did not publicize Speed Shift very much when Skylake processors were released, and its full implementation will not be realized until Kaby Lake processors are released. Intel does not include Speed Shift in the list of processor features (Advanced Technologies) for Skylake processors, or currently for the few Kaby Lake mobile processors that are available only from OEM manufactures in laptop PCs. What UEFI/BIOS version are you using now? I suggest updating to one of the versions that supports Kaby Lake, 7.00 in the main BIOS download page, or 7.10 in the Beta Zone. Speed Shift should be in the OC Tweaker, CPU Configuration screen, added in one of those versions. |

I have an asrock oc formula z170 bios 7.40 and I enabled it you can find it under advance option.Currently I am using speedshift and speedstep with balance power plan in windows.I can lower my vcore as speedshift ramps up vcore and frequency when needed.My intel xtu benchmark on 4.6ghz is 1585 which is better than 4.8ghz benchmark
