have this board obviously, bought a asus mb169c usc-c 3.0 monitor to use as a secondary monitor for times when I want one for various tasks. As I read into it, it appears the type c port on the board needs to be a 'displayport over usb c' compliant port for this monitor to work. Was curious if these boards are compliant with that protocol which would then lead me to believe something else is the issue. just trying to troubleshoot it as for now, windows says usb device not recognized whenever I plug it in. when I go to device manager, it comes up as a 'billboard device'. the onboard graphics of the board are turned on via bios. the rest of the system is windows 10(all software current), 6700k, 32gb ram, m.2 drive, gtx 1080 sli.
any help is appreciated...

I'm going to take a stab and say that it might not be compatible... the standard you'd want in order to get it to work is Thunderbolt 3 (Alpine Ridge), I believe: https://thunderbolttechnology.net/tech/faq
Probably that is the question that you should be asking tech support... might want to do it here:
