Hi everyone!
I hope someone has some good ideas here quickly, this is doing my head in!!! I just bought this new board and I cannot for the life of me get it to even boot. I have tried with 2 brands of memory, 1 of them being on the supported list. No matter what I do I get the following error when I power it on, it will cycle between error 19 and B0 a couple of times, before then stopping on 53. Which from what I can understand is memory missing or something. Now this happens whether I have memory put in or not! I have tried full kit, single memory stick, in all the different 8 slots. Same thing... its like it doesn't see the memory at all. It does click in both sides when insert the memory. My bios seems REALLY old too 1.20 ? why are boards being sold with so old bios when you have no chance of updating them? EDIT: The memory sticks that are on the list are 2800mhz G.skill RipJ4's the other modules are 3000mz Corsair Vengence. Anyway I am beyond frustrated and badly need thing running fast! I have tried to reset the bios, use bios B instead of A.. I don't what to do. thank you!

Can we get a full list of specs please.
This is largely a supplier issue not a manufacturer one. ASRock has no control over how much stock a suppler stocks or how long it takes to sell. By the details of your post I suspect the BIOS version may be the issue. I am going to guess you are using a Broadwell EP CPU given your symptoms. The new Broadwell CPUs require BIOS version 3.0 or greater to even allow post. The reason the error code is to do with memory is that the Haswell and Broadwell X99 CPUs use completely different memory controllers.

Interesting.. how do you get around this? I am using an 6950x i7 The two types of memory is 64gb kit 4x16gb Corsair vengence - CMU64GX4M4C3000C15 other kits are 32gb kit, 4x8GB G.skill F4-2800C16Q-32GRK So what do I do? I can't flash the bios without access to it, do I return the board and never buy asrock again? Thanks

First of all, ASRock has nothing to do with it, all X99 boards require a BIOS update to run Broadwell-EP CPUs. IMO the retailer should have some kind of warning on the product listing to that effect. I can understand your frustration but I have to point out the issue is not a fault with the product. Retailers clearing old stock, failing to warn customers and otherwise not providing crucial information is to blame here. All too often the manufacturer gets the blame for things that have nothing to do with a product (not just ASRock). If you look at the product page for your board you will note that the Broadwell CPUs all require BIOS version 3.0 and upward, the information is present on ASRock's site.
You have several options: 1. Purchase a new BIOS chip directly from ASRock preflashed with the required BIOS. 2. If you purchased the board from a physical store you can take it back to them and have them flash it for you. 3. Take the board to a repair center and have them flash it for you. 4. Return the board and ask specifically for a replacement with the correct BIOS version. This has been a major issue with all X99 boards of all brands since the release of the Broadwell-EP CPU line. I have seen numerous posts about this issue on a number of different tech and manufacturer forums.

I know I'm quick to blame Asrock, my previous board was also asrock running a 4790k and it has been a dream to work with. Frustration doesn't even come close. But I do thank you A LOT for your information. So would any asrock retailers have access to the bios flash? even if they don't sell this board specifically? Ordering a preflashed chip is also very attractive, however being in Australia I am concerned about how long it will take to get here? :O argh this is such a pain in the arse!

Most likely, 99.999% sure anyways, that that wouldn't solve your problem, unfortunately. You'd soon run out of motherboard manufacturers that you would never buy from again. Not to mention run out of hair to pull far far sooner. The i7-6950X is a very recently released processor. Like, 2nd quarter of 2016 recent. I'll bet you ANY X99 board you were to order would still need a BIOS update to support silicon that new. The retail chain just doesn't move that fast. ASRock will most likely ship you a BIOS chip that is flashed to rev. 3.20. Free! That is the first BIOS rev. that supports your 6950X. Contact them HERE and explain the predicament you now find yourself in. I'm sure they'll send you a free BIOS chip to replace the older one that is currently socketed on your motherboard. If you need more help here, please post and I, Xaltar, or parsec will reply. |

you guys are legends! I will certainly contact them. If I go to my local computer parts dealer (quite a big outlet shop) and ask politely, would they have the tools / access to be able to just download 3.2 and do it right there? My concern is as mentioned that I am in Australia and I fear things will take weeks for a little chip to get here :/

So long as they have a compatible CPU with your current BIOS version yes, it should be a simple matter of installing the compatible CPU, downloading the BIOS update and using instant flash to flash it.
Always use instant flash, it is the safest and most reliable method and also has the best crash recovery.

I am curious though why I get the error 53? isn't that a memory error? or does it cover the CPU as well? Also I can't seem to find a list of cpu's that the 1.2 bios supports. :/ so I have no idea which old cpu to get hold if I had to go to that extend.
