Bought this memory: Crucial 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR3 1866 MT/s (PC3-14900) SODIMM 204-Pin - CT2K102464BF186D It is not postin @1866 dual channel, but it seems to boot in single channel mode. However booting takes very long. If I change the bios setting from 1866 to 1600 it even boots in dual channel mode, however, cold boot takes a long time to bios post. When booting with dual boot then Windows 10 seem to install and run stable and fine @ 1600. Is there any change to edit RAM timings in bios ? What may be the problem ? Is this an incompatibility with that memory that will be fixed by a bios update later or do I have a faulty motherboard or faulty RAM ? Is there anything I need to do ? My case is a MS-Tech CI-70 with 120W PSU. Thank you, Andre Edited by andre117 - 17 Dec 2016 at 3:26am |

Are you loading the XMP profile or just manually setting it to 1866?
Thanks for including the RAM model number in your post, not many do from the start and it saves us having to ask That RAM is listed as compatible with your board on it's memory support list so it should work. If you are setting the frequency manually try clearing CMOS and then loading the XMP profile, that will set all the voltages and timings correctly.

Looking at your manual it appears that setting "DRAM Frequency" to Auto should do the trick.

Ok, it seems that dual channel is unstable. It crashes in dual channel testing with memtest86. Crash happens using multiple CPU and is spectacular (see screenshot). The same crash happens in windows from time to time when watching video. But it does not happen in single channel mode. There may exist a problem with dual channel mode with this board.
This is the crash while running memtest86 v4.3.7: Is there a bios fix ? The RAM is fine, tested on another machine. Edited by andre117 - 21 Dec 2016 at 7:51am |

Case is pretty cold I would say. Heat sink is very warm but not too hot to touch.

The iGPU shares system memory, it looks to me like when Memtest is trying to test a shared portion of the RAM it is found unstable and causes the crash you see.
My best guess is that the RAM is not properly stable at it's rated speed at that voltage. The board may be providing slightly shy of the RAM's voltage requirements or the RAM itself is not properly stable at it's rated voltage. I would try another RAM kit if you can.

Xalta, you are right. Changed RAM voltage from 1.35V (auto) to 1.5V and it seems to run without crashing now. Changing speed did not solve the problem though.
