Hi Guys,

I was looking at RAM for the:

I am not able to match the module number of ADATA - AX3U3000W8G12 to any RAM on Amazon or Newegg. Even their site doesn't have it listed. Anyone know of anyway to translate to what the RAM module actually is?

Thanks!

You didn't buy the X99 chipset motherboard which is for heavy video editing, memory and CPU intensive use.

DDR3 3000 is a waste of money and most all of the time you will never see any difference with 2133.

I can't  find that in usa or uk.

That is a 16gb ADATA XPG v3 DDR3 3000 kit (2x8gb).

Odiebugs is mostly right about the speeds, more often than not when the RAM is clocked over 2400 it has terrible timings and or is rated at a higher voltage than the standard 1.5v DDR3 kits. I can get my Adata XPG DDR3 1600 kit to 2800 if I adjust the voltage and timings to match my Apacer DDR3 2800 kit. The difference is that the Apacer kit is better binned and generates less heat than my 1600 kit at those speeds. Faster ram does make a difference to certain workloads but even then the difference is negligible.

Ultimately with RAM, if it is at a good price it does not matter what speed it is (1600 and above). The major concern is compatibility, not all DDR3 works on all systems. DDR3 has been with us for a very long time now and has evolved significantly since its inception.

I got a few hits on European online retailers with the model number in the Memory Support List:

http://www.amazon.de/ADATA-DIMM-DDR3-3000-AX3U3000W8G12-DBV-RG-Gaming/dp/B00MG48HQW

http://www.amazon.co.uk/ADATA-3-3000-AX3U3000W8G12-KIT-V3-0-Gaming-Rg/dp/B00MG48HQW

My guess is that model of memory is not sold in the USA market for some reason.

I also agree that DDR3 memory speeds beyond 1600 have very little if any real world benefit.
