Hi
Sorry first of all this is my first computer build in over 20 years so everything is new to me again. I am trying to run memory D3 2400 32GB C10 GSkill TriX K4 (F3-2400C10Q-32GTX) No matter what I do it shows up randomly between 666 to 1333 speed : Did i choose the wrong ram for this mb? And will that ram work on the 990FX Extreme9at 2400 mhz or do i need to send the ram back and trade it for ram that will work Again sorry for asking such an easy question My mind is blown on figuring it out

I see no ASRock AMD based board's listed under it's compatibility list and it is not listed on your board's compatibility list either so there is a good chance it isn't properly compatible with your system.
Do you have the 990FX Extreme 9 or the 970a-g/3.1?
Here is the QVL list for that RAM: http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-2400c10q-32gtx (copy paste link and click the QVL tab toward the bottom) 990FX compatibility list: http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/990FX%20Extreme9/?cat=Memory (copy paste link) |

Below is what G.Skill themselves guarantees to work on the 990FX Extreme9. http://www.gskill.com/en/configurator?manu=52&chip=42&model=1974 In my Sig below I have 32GB(4x8GB) kit F3-2133C10Q-32GSR running just fine on my Extreme9. If you only want a 16GB(2x8GB) kit I believe the F3-2133C10D-16GSR will work too. |

That F3-2400C10Q-32GTX you mention in your first post may probably be made to work on the 990FX Extreme9.
It's probably too much for the 970 board you have. |

A note: Before you install the 990X Extreme9.........
You'll need to peel the thin film sheeting from the Northbridge, Southbridge, and VRM tin covers. This is IMPORTANT. Leaving it in place does not allow for proper cooling of the three. It must be removed. Lifting it from one corner usually allows it to be peeled up and off completely. It is a much easier task to do before you install it. Trust me. I've built dozens of builds with this motherboard. |
