I'm sorry but I must ask you if you extracted the contents of the mac207A.zip file.

That is, you right clicked on the file and chose "Extract All...", which will result in a folder called mac207A. That folder must be copied to the pendrive, not the mac207a.zip file.

If you did copy the mac207A folder to the pendrive, did you restart the PC, go into the UEFI/BIOS, and check that the pendrive was listed first in the Boot order, in the Boot screen? If it is not first in the boot order, you must select the pendrive to be the first in the boot order.

I apologize for the misguided directions and will bring this to their attention.

Yea, I just downloaded that zip file. There is no need to dir or cd to MAC207A as there is not one. Wacko

Again, my apologies.

Yet Thank you for coming back to say your figured the bootable and dir issue.

It's great that you also now have a correctly working computer. Enjoy!

No worries!  Thanks again!

After creating it unpack and copy the zip file contents to the root, then at the post scree IIRC it';s F11 to select which device to boot from, then once booted to it begin following at Step 3 with the commands to flash the MAC Address.

Again, post back your progress.

OK, I found an alternate "create a bootable USB drive" program and got the whole thing to work.  However, the steps as written above didn't work for me exactly.

Under Step 5 there are 4 sub steps.  When I typed in cd MAC207A, I got the following error message: CHDIR failed for 'MAC207A' with the little apostrophes.  However, when I skipped that step and just typed in MAC, then the program worked and it flashed the MAC address.  Now the MB boots up without me having to hit F1 all the time.

Thanks for all of your help!

Thanks wardog.  Do you have a different program I can try?  I've tried 5 different USB sticks, old ones, USB 3.0, USB adapters with SD cards and am getting one of two errors: This device is write protected (they're not), and unable to format drive.
