I have the ASRock 990FX Extreme9 MPOBO and need to flash the BIOS in my LSI SAS9211-8I  controller card. I've been informed that I need to boot into EFI. I have all the necessary files on a DOS bootable formatted USB pendrive but at this point I'm totally lost and need the instructions for dummies. When I power on the system and press F11 I see that there is an option for the UEFI Shell. I've selected it, several screens of text appears and finally a Shell prompt. At this point I don't know how to access the pendrive and execuite the sas2flash.efi nor do I know if I'm in the correct function to execute the file.

If this is not the correct area to post this request please tell me where I should post.

As I stated above, I'm totally lost and need instructions for dummies. Confused

9211-8i huh? I have a few of 'em.

What are you doing?? Upflashing the LSI FW or cross-flashing to achieve non-RAID IT Mode?

Ok. First up ..........

Booting to the pen drive, can the utility see your card? That's important. If simply booting to DOS and using the util it can see your card you're half way there w/o fooling with an EFI shell.

Let's see what happens if the util can address your card first.

Somewhere here I have a batch file I created that simplifies this to simply editing the batch file to match your cards identifiable numbers, the simply entering "flash', press enter, and it's done.

I want to use Windows 10 Storage Spaces and it will NOT work with any form of RAID on the PC. Once I have the LSI SAS9211-8I 8 Port in IT mode I can implement Storage Spaces on 4-6 TB and 2-3TB drives. They are in the tower, most are connected to the LSI card, I have four other drives which are connected to the MOBO (along with one of the 6 TB drives that will be part of the Storage Space) for a total of five drives directly connected to the MOBO. I have a SSD for my boot drive directly connected to the MOBO as well.
