Hi, so I have a problem with my headset microphone as it doesn't pick up any sounds, but white noise and was told that it's not compatible with the HD audio and to flash my motherboard to AC'97. I had a look at the website and asked uncle google, but couldn't find any links or drivers. So is there an option to actually to do it?

Bah. You don't need to flash anything.

HD Audio panels and AC'97 panels are physically the same. It's in  how they get wired that determines each.

Once again here, the User Manual to the rescue.

See the #2 in the gray shaded area/section at the top of pg23

Post back if you need further assistance _OR_  Post back the results when you're done.

Edit HD Audio panes to HD Audio panels

Oh okay.
Do you have any idea why the microphone doesn't work? It's connected via 3.5 mm jack, tested on other machines and it works, also used a different headset with a jack and it didn't work either. An USB mic works.

It's a Steelseries Siberia V2 https://www.amazon.co.uk/SteelSeries-Siberia-Full-Headset-Microphone/dp/B002Q8IHDQ . Everything is connected as it should, tried everything I can possible think of.
Having a separate USB mic is really uncomfortable and the only option I'm left at he moment is getting a new USB headset, it seems.

I'm baffled. I just looked up down, and under the steelseries.com website and I can't find sh*t on a Siberia v2.

Now it's time for you to help me locate a manual for these Dead

https://steelseries.com/gaming-headsets/siberia-200 I think they re-named them to these.  Just checked my box and there's no manual, can't find one on the internet either.

I have the same headset,...it is all analog. It has two mini jacks one with pink stripes and the other has green stripes, a square pad with rotating volume control and an on/off mic switch. To test plug the green stripped mini jack into the back of your computer into the green female jack (headset audio). Plug the pink stripped mini jack into the back panel of your computer in to the pink female jack (mic) and slide the square slider up towards the headset (on). volume increase is also up towards the headset.

P.S. At the back of your computer the green and pink jacks are next to eachother.

BTW. you may have to uninstall your usb mic or disable it as it may overide the SS V2 headset mic in WIndows sound control panel.

If this doesn't work you will have to follow wardog's advice and check your motherboard to front panel connections,...you will need your computer case manual to know where to put the front panel connectors.

I've tried the back panel and it doesn't work either.  I have gone through all the obvious solution, hence why I'm seeking help everywhere else now. All the connections are connected as they should be. The USB microphone didn't require any drivers, it's just a cheap one I found on eBay.
Thanks for the replies anyway.

Thanks clubfoot. A Thanks for that.

Dijok, guess that means you'll be rearranging the cases audio panel wiring to the MB.
