Hello, I am running linux on an asrock z87 fatality killer with an intel haswell 4770k. But the x2apic extension doesn't seem to be enabled.
I can only run virt with westmere arch because of this so I would appreciate if someone explains to me why the extension is off.
I have read there could possibly be a switch in the bios to toggle it but I couldn't find any, I am running the latest bios that can be downloaded from asrock website.
I also tried the kernel boot parameter
Quote intremap=no_x2apic_optout

which supposedly makes linux override the off switch from the bios but still no success.
Just to be clear x2apic is actually not present in the cpu flags
Quote cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep x2apic

returns nothing.

Intel is famous for disabling functions on the K processors so that comes as no surprise sorry to say.
