My hardware is as follows:
"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu." Additional information that might be helpful

This could be an issue with the m.2 drive itself. The way to test it is to either put it in a different computer or get a regular drive, load Windows on it and then see if Windows can see and use the m.2 drive.
If the drive is showing but accessible within Windows then it could very well be a bad drive. |

hiya by m2 i assume you mean m2 nvme drive ? (i dont think they make the evo 960 as a sata m2)
i have the exact same card and it did indedd just work plug an play so back to basics have you tried removing and reinstalling it ? (it could just be a slight lack of being fully seated) allthough from memory they said a light pressure at 45degrees and then lay down flat and screw into place option 2 reset the bios (clear the cmos) by unplugging pc AND removing the cmos battery for 3 mins or so option 3 is the bios set to uefi mode and your trying to install windows now in uefi mode option 4 try directly installing from start up (i think it was hit f6 on booting with the usb connected and follow prompts ) |

The 960 EVO will work fine in any X370 board. Many ASRock X370 board users including myself use a 960 EVO as the OS drive. If you can see the 960 EVO in the UEFI/BIOS, and in the boot order, the SSD is working fine. You are using Windows 10 which has a built in NVMe driver, so that is not the problem. The error message from Windows 10 is rather generic, none of the things it said is really true. The hardware does support it and there is no disk controller you need to enable. As said above by datonyb, NVMe SSDs require a "UEFI booting" Windows installation. There are several ways to accomplish that, they are not difficult. First, what are you using as the Windows 10 installation media? An optical disk? Or a Windows 10 ISO on a USB flash drive? Either way, when you boot the Windows 10 installation media, go into the UEFI/BIOS, Advanced Mode, and then into the Boot screen. Look in the Boot order for the entry for the Windows 10 installation media. You may find more than one entry for the Windows 10 installation media. You MUST select the entry with this format, "UEFI: <device name>", where device name is the optical drive or USB flash drive you are using. The entry with the "UEFI:" prefix will cause a UEFI booting Windows installation to be done. Some optical disk drives do not support UEFI booting. If you are using an optical drive and disk and don't get a "UEFI:..." entry in the boot order, let us know. You'll need to create a USB Windows 10 ISO installation drive. |

ManannanMacLir, please state your BIOS version explicitly. I suggest you place your specifications in your signature as I have - always there automatically. When you get to the W10 Setup screen asking for install drive selection, select your SSD and click Format. Be sure to select GPT and you should be good to go. The message you are getting is a generic one and says "may not support booting", notice the word "may". What version of W10 are you installing (32/64 bit and version) and from what media? Good luck and enjoy, John.
EDIT: Your SSD is on the Storage Qualified list. http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X370%20Taichi/index.asp#Storage Edited by MisterJ - 20 Oct 2017 at 11:36pm |

Parsec you advice was the solution, it just needed to be booted from the flash device listed "UEFI" thank you so much for helping with easy to follow and concise language. Thank all of you for bothering to reply to a stranger. I spent the entire day googling solutions and watching youtube videos but none of them answered my question. Cheers! |

ManannanMacLir, W10 Setup manages the boot priority just fine, Please do not mess with it especially during install. Use F11 to see the boot devices, boot the UEFI one and let Setup do the rest. Enjoy, John.

I don't think I explained clearly what it is doing now.
I install Windows 10, and naturally the system reboots. However it boots right back into the beginning of the installation process(where it asks me for my Windows Key, etc). This occurs without me touching the Boot Priority. Removing the Installation Media(USB Drive) or changing Boot Priority have no effect towards remedying the problem. |
