Hey there, this is my first build ever, so I'm sorry if anything is stupid. And I've searched this forum + google, suggestions from threads with similar issues aren't fixing mine.
So on my new ASrock AB350 Pro 4 the LAN port almost never works. Twice ever I've seen the lights come on the port (yellow and orange) when plugged in, and if they come on it worked properly until the computer shut down. I have installed and reinstalled every driver from ASRock's site and from Realtek, old drivers and new, and I always restart after a new driver installation. When not working, the windows internet dashboard icon shows the red X. Even the USb to LAN adapter only works if it's not plugged in at boot time, meaning I have to fuss it each boot. The and cables and router ports have been tested and are not the problem. The same cables and router work just fine on other computers, or on the same mobo with a usb to ethernet adapter. Edit: Well, now it lights up and works about half the time, but stops and all the lights turn off randomly and often. Progress, I guess. Any help is appreciated, Thanks

Junah, please tell us more about your system - post your specifications in your signature as I have. Make sure you are running the latest BIOS and the Chip Set drivers from here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
I use the right side: Manually. Please open your BIOS hit F9 (Load UEFI Defaults), F10 (Save and Exit) and see if that helps. Enjoy, John. |

What version of Windows are you using? You've had this problem with the network chip since the first time you installed Windows on the PC? I assume you've installed the other basic drivers for your board? The latest AMD chipset drivers can be found on this page, scroll down to the AMD Chipset, AHCI, USB 3.0 and RAID Drivers link. But these drivers should not be needed for the networking chip to be working: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download The Activity/Link LED indicator (the top orange LED) should be either on or blinking when the PC is on, and even when it is shutdown if the Wake On Lan feature is enabled, which it is by default. That LED should only be off if there is no link established between the network chip and router. The lower Speed LED indicator will be either orange for 100Mbps, green for 1Gbps, or off for 10Mbps connections. Did you ever right click on the Windows Network Internet access icon on the Task Bar, and try the Troubleshoot problems feature? Or simply run the create new Internet connection option from the Open Network & Internet settings, another right click option? The Device Manager entry under Network adapters for the Realtek RTL8111GR network chip will give you an indication if it is working correctly. The advanced options in the Properties may also have troubleshooting options. If you are absolutely certain that the Internet cable and router are working correctly, and you cannot get a consistent connection after running the troubleshooting in Windows and the Realtek driver Properties, then it seems that the network chip or board is defective. Return the board to your retailer if possible, or begin the RMA process with ASRock. An Internet connection should just simply work from the start. Most of the time we don't even need to run the Windows Internet connection option. The networking works as soon as Windows is installed. |

I'm running Win10, and the computer has had this problem since it was built on Tuesday. First thing I did was update the bios, before I even installed Windows.
The troubleshooter uselessly tells me a cable is unplugged, but my cables are fully functional. The driver in device manager looks normal and I've already installed that driver from different sources and release dates over 20 times. Maybe the board is just defective, I'll have to take it up with Newegg. I'm really not looking forward to having to reinstall a new mobo and go without a computer for a few weeks, so I may just live with a dinky adapter. Especially because I think I'd lose my mail in rebate window while trying to get the part changed out. Edited by Junah - 03 Dec 2017 at 3:07am |

After resetting the BIOS, I got lights on my onboard lan after 3 failed attempts. I'm afraid to touch it since it's working right now, and has always quit working when I started doing things. Edit: It kept working through 3 test reboots, and once I assumed it was fixed it died randomly 10 minutes into use.

Sorry, I should have mentioned I added the specs into my signature: https://valid.x86.fr/jv23i1
The chipset didn't change anything. I'm starting to think it might be a loose connection on the port. I used the LAN for about an hour today without a problem, and then it died in the middle of a game for seemingly no reason. Even plugging it in still has 50/50 odds if it'll light up and work. When it doesn't work there are no lights, so a bad connection seems plausible.
