Yes that is a valid way of checking the firmware version too. MEI drivers for windows have different version numbers, so no they don't have to be the same. You can view your your MEI driver version in windows device manager/system devices/Intel(R) Management Engine Interface #1/properties/driver. (by the way, it shows your firmware version too in the firmware tab)

As I said before, i don't think you need to worry about them unless you are dead set on running the latest one. If an update is ever really needed, or a vulnerability is found, I'm sure it will be updated.

MEI features: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000008927/software/chipset-software.html).

You can download a checking tool to see your actual version from Intel at:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19392/intel-converged-security-and-management-engine-version-detection-tool-intel-csmevdt.html

When not confident it's best to stay by what asrock offers, they will probably know what they are doing.

I viewed mine straight from the bios. My bios version is 16.1.30.2264. That is an acceptable way of checking correct? And I know there is a bios version and a version that's installed in your Windows OS. Not sure if the two should match.

Well I'm not to concerned about updating ME, if there even is an update. I do have whatever version they included in bios version 9.09 which was the last time ASRock included an ME update with the bios update for my board.

I honestly don't know enough about ME to determine if i should worry about it. Should I?

For anyone who is also curious, and since this forum doesn't seem to get much action, I'll answer my own question. Just updated my board to bios version 16.01 with the latest intel microcode 0x12B, and no, it does not include an update to ME. Kind of odd seeming all the other main manufacturers do include an ME update.

If it is stable, I can't answer that, for me it runs but too early to tell, for you, you will have to test for yourself.
Is it safe? It's official, no beta. It applies intel's latest safety limits. So suppose it's safe.

As always be careful flashing bios, restore default settings if you had any overclock going before you flash and only flash if you are confident you won't loose power during the flash.

Installed it this morning, so far everything appears ok and stable. No bsods, hangs, freezes, etc. Cpu voltage is fine during idle and under load. Cpu temps are fine too.

In 20+ years of building and using PCs, I've never updated the motherboard's bios so many times in a short time span. Never been 100% comfortable updating the bios due to concerns of power failure while it's udpating.
