I just got the X399 Tasichi motherboard. I'm now hitting a roadblock, windows will not recognize my SSD SATA drive.
Bios version 2.0 I don't know the build version of my windows 10 usb installer, I don't know where to look.

I been killing myself with this too. X399 Taichi, Windows 10 Build 1703 (Edu) (built using Rufus, as MS media tool keeps failing), WD Green 240GB SSD, TR 1920. Can't get Win10 to load the drivers for either RAID (I want to later attach a mirrored pair of HDDs) or AHCI.
BIOS version is 2.0. Tried disabling IOMMU, disabling CMS or setting to UEFI only, turning on RAID mode for controller and deleting array then recreating in BIOS (as JBOD/volume), trying in AHCI mode, trying with NVME RAID enabled, etc. Error is always the same: Boot Win10 off USB (via UEFI option in boot menu), select 64bit English version, click Install, doesn't see drives. Browse for drivers, install Bottom driver, rescan, then Controller driver, rescan, then Config driver. Then I can't get any farther. I can Shift-F10 and pull up diskpart in a command line and see the disks fine. Just can't get past the searching for driver stage. Tried both ASRock F6 floppy AHCI drivers and RAID drivers (9.00.00.88), then the slightly newer set (9.2.something) direct from AMD's site. Tried slipstreaming above drivers into my Win10 USB via dism utility as well. Kind of stuck, now.< ="chrome-extension://hhojmcideegachlhfgfdhailpfhgknjm/web_accessible_resources/index.js"> Edited by Apethae - 12 Mar 2018 at 8:29pm |

Apethae, injecting the drivers for RAID does not work! I have tested it ever way I can think of and complained to AMD with no help. RAID on X399 is a mess but I think I have figured it out. AMD says they will straighten it out. If you will tell me what you want to do, I will be glad to help. X399 uses the MS AHCI driver and you should not try to install something different. I need to know what drive type (NVMe/SATA) you want to use. You should use only the drivers and RAIDXpert2 on the ASRock Taichi DL page. I know that using the AMD drivers results in a yellow ! in the Device Driver. I did not pursue this but am not crazy to try running with it. I suspect it would be OK, but ASRock offers this driver over AMD's for some reason. Is your system not detecting your NVMe also? Do you have to use the (Edu) version of W10 - how about 1709? I assume it is 64 bit. Please post, in your signature, your complete specifications as I have. Include your power supply and SSD version.
For SATA array. These are both defined to create boot-able drives. Enjoy, John. EDIT: AMD on AHCI driver: Edited by MisterJ - 13 Mar 2018 at 1:42am |

I know, I tried injection out of desperation when nothing else worked. The MS AHCI driver doesn't seem to recognize my drives when I boot in SATA mode; it gives me an error and no drives are listed. Tried creating a SATA RAID array: I get to step 11 substep 3 and can go no further, same as before. Error after loading rccfg (and all previous drivers in step 11) is: "No new device drivers were found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK." This is using the ASRock Taichi raid drivers, but also any others I've found.
EDU is the only version I have a license for and the MS Media Creation Tool keeps erroring out on my laptop after download. 64bit, yes. I will see about getting a 1709 is from elsewhere if I can, but AMD says 1703 should support RAID on the x399. Still stumped. At Step 11 substep 1 I have two rcbottom entries, but trying either or both has the same result. No change with build 1709. Tried new USB drives in case there was some quirk there. No dice.

Thanks, Wardog, but it's a SATA SSD and not a PCIe one. Still stuck, unfortunately.< ="chrome-extension://hhojmcideegachlhfgfdhailpfhgknjm/web_accessible_resources/index.js">

Apethae, you need to tell me what you want to do - EXACTLY! My step-by-step included doing W10 install on the RAID. From step 9 on is only needed if you are going to install W10 on the RAID. If not, simply boot into W10 and install RAIDXpert2 (RX2, the one from the Taichi DL page, contains drivers) and reboot. Open RX2 in W10 (admin/admin) and you should see your RAID. As I remember you want a SATA RAID. Be sure to follow the SATA s-by-s above and do not enable NVMe RAID setting. If you have other other SATA devices not in the RAID, they will be need to be set to RAID VOLUME. Again, when you tell me EXACTLY what you want to do, I should be able to help. Enjoy, John.

I have a single SATA SSD on which I want to install Win10.
I then have two identical SATA HDD's I want to add after Win10 is running and set up a RAID1 mirror.< ="chrome-extension://hhojmcideegachlhfgfdhailpfhgknjm/web_accessible_resources/index.js"> I have been setting the SATA SSD as a RAID VOLUME by itself, but cannot get Windows 10 installed on it, even if I try to install in AHCI mode. None of the Taichi drivers or AMD drivers seem to see the SSD. I have borrowed a M.2 PCIE NVME disk that I'm trying to get Win10 installed on just to see if it can be done, but no luck so far. Basically the SSD will always be on its own, not in an array, but as the RAID1 mirror is to be connected to the same controller I have to set it up as a RAID VOLUME and get the drivers working, yes?
