I just put together a new build and can't figure out why Windows is saying that only 8 of 16BG RAM is usable.

Specs:
- AMD Ryzen 2600X
- ASRock Taichi x470 (v1.10)
- G.Skill Flare X 3200 16GB (8GB x2)
- Samsung 960 EVO m.2

I haven't overclocked anything, and have done a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro. RAM is installed in A2/B2, but BIOS shows RAM is running single channel. Memory diagnostics said the RAM was ok though. Grasping at straws at this point.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

RAM failed training on one module. Turn off XMP and run at 2133 speeds instead, then work your way upwards.

push the ram stick into the socket fully Wink

seriously these new ram sockets are not user friendly they require too much force to insert the sticks

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

XMP is off, and the RAM is running at 2400. Forcing it into something lower caused the PC to not boot up.

I'm pretty sure the RAM is also seated properly - I heared clicks and everything. Smile Both modules are flush with the MB, and I have tried installing them in A1/B1 as well with the same results.

1) Are both 8GB sticks recognized in the BIOS?

2) Regardless, pull and re-seat both sticks. As datonyb implies, these new lots are finicky critters.

Yup, both are visible in the BIOS. I tried using only one stick at a time in A2 - one stick worked, the other didn?™t. I?™m guessing there is something wrong with one of them.
