    Posted: 07 Sep 2018 at 10:24pm
Hello (datonyb),

I am having trouble running my 128GB G.skill 3200Mhz C14 RGB TridentZ RAM at any speed above 2800Mhz. With the latest L3.23B uefi, I was able to run fairly stable at 2933Mhz using xmp profile1, but not 100%. I am sure there may be timing / voltage, and tweaking settings that could be tried, but I am not versed in these and would greatly appreciate any advice for getting my RAM to run higher than 2800Mhz.

Thanks for any assistance with this. Please let me know what info. I should provide.

Bryan

128gb at 3200mhz error free ?

ask me something easier like costless energy without fossil fuels ..............LOL

i think if its possible ,its going to tak maybe some looser timings (that may well come at a cost to overall system speed though), e.g. you may find 2800 cl14 actually performs better than 3200

first off a good base is to run thaiphoon and get your ram details saved as a screen shot for reference

then download '1usmus'    ryzen ram calculator and see whats its suggesting (take some screen shots of that ) for safe + fast settings  and i'll try and find some suggestions from chew/stilt for tr4

the plan would be to start with ryzen calc safe settings and then tweak with other known options from chew and stilt

to 1, get it stable and then 2, maybe tighten it up a bit

you realise you already have plenty of envious green eyes on you for getting 128gb upto 2800mhz
already ?Tongue

p.s.

you look like you may have more hard drives than seagate retail store Wink

can you find a spare to install a disposable windows install on ?

its possible to mess up an install with crashes etc ,so its better to have a test drive that you can wreck the install on and just spam a new install into without a care in 5 mins

Wow, thanks very much for the quick timely replies.

I am looking for Taiphoon now, and will get screen shots of that and Ryzen Calculator.

I see what you mean about speed vs timings and hope you can help me get an optimal configuration.

Also, you are right, I do have several storage drives including ones that I can test with as I have indeed tried clean installs on them. I have a 1 TB SS 850 Evo 2.5" ssd Raid 0 array available, in addition to the entire Ultra Quad 1TB Raid 0 array.

I can and will turn off the RAM RGB Leds.

its that quad raid im worried about corrupting............................

hence suggestion for a plain old drive that isnt a drama if it corrupts with crashes,to be fair its not a high chance, but its a chance it can crash and mess the file system

Hi,

I finally got Thaiphoon, but am hesitant to run it due to the warnings about the possible damage that can be done. Do you have any tips on how to run it and what options to choose? Also, my Ultra Quad does not have anything important on it right now, and trashing the file system would not be a problem as long as there is no physical damage, I can delete / re-create the array and data.

See the link below for Dram Calculator; 1st image is Fast, and 2nd is Safe

Thanks,

i suggest just following the video guide from page 1 of dram calculator thread on overclockers
