I am confused about how to install Windows 7 via USB for a system that will be using RAID.
system components: Win 7 Pro 64-bit ASRock Z170 OC Formula using USB for installation of drivers & OS keyboard & mouse are USB devices My Windows OS will not be on a RAID drive, but I do want to have other disks in RAID arrays. From the information on the ASRock Website http://www.asrock.com/microsite/Win7Install/ I see that there is a USB Patcher available for using with the Windows 7 installation file. However, in the Guide to SATA Hard Disks Installation and RAID Configuration, it recommends the following steps for installing Windows 7 with RAID functions (page 7, English): (a) set BIOS setting to use RAID (b) use ASRock Easy RAID Installer to copy the RAID driver from a support CD to a USB storage device (c) set up RAID configuration (d) install Windows If I can't use the USB ports until I have installed the USB-patched Windows, how can I use a USB flash drive to install the RAID driver for step b, which needs to occur before installing Windows (step d)? |
