I have a ASRock Z87 Extreme4 that is working fine except that the USB2.0 ports are not enabled on power up. As a result, I cannot boot from a USB thumb drive nor use a USB keyboard and mouse in the UEFI menus. I'm only able to use the PS/2 keyboard port.
I have cleared the CMOS. Can anyone tell me how to go from there to a working USB2.0 port. By the way, once the computer has booted in Ubuntu, the USB2.0 ports work. |

When you enable Ultra Fast boot in the BIOS, the detection of USB ports, is disabled.
In Windows 10, it is best to disable fast boot, or Ultra Fast Boot |

I removed a USB adapter from one of the PCI-E connector and the USB2.0 ports now work at power up. It was a Rosewill RC-509 PCI-E to USB3.1 Expansion Card.
