You are right about the Tachyon. There is no X670E Tachyon. RAM speed is being limited by the memory controller that's on the CPU. AMD Zen 5 CPUs only support, officially, 2x DDR5-5600, or 4x DDR5-3600. Everything beyond that is silicone lottery. |

Yes, "officially".. but in reality, probably 80% or better of zen 4 and 5 series will do 6000-6400mhz 1:1 -so memclk/uclk 3000-3200.
But then running 2:1 has been showing benefit at 7800+ and I've yet to hear of a single person with a good 2 dimm motherboard who was not able to run a zen 4 or 5 stable at 8000+. Anyways, either Zen6 or Zen5+ is said to be coming in 2025... the main change should be with the memory controller.. a strong focus on reducing memory latency. So, not really sure what point you were trying to make.. but personally I want a Taichi OCF so I can be future-proof for at least one more upcoming CPU.. potentially running 9000+mhz ram by the end of it's life. |

The point that I was trying to make is that, fast RAM kits, that are running above the spec of the CPU, aren't guaranteed to work! Or, if they do work, they might be running with errors, which can be seen when testing the system with a tool such as MemTest86. |

I agree with the OP in regards to just having 2 DIMM slots for AM5 boards.
So much so, I'm planning to buy a B650M-HDV/M.2 when 9800X3D becomes regularly available. I understand OP wants a high-end board whereas HDV is a low-end board, but the basic idea is the same. Extra bonus with HDV is that it's cheap :) |

Really I'd be most happy if they gave us the memory-related OCF features on just their basic RS pro.. and even if no extra memory shielding.. 2 dimm is inherently so much better.
I know 8000mhz+ is what the next CPU line is going to be running, and Intel gets a taichi OCF. HDV is honestly the best value, lol.. probably no problem passing 8400mhz on memory and has everything else an ordinary computer user needs. |

"Not guaranteed" haha, well that is true.. but my post is regarding desire for an OCF board, lol, that's a board specifically designed for memory overclocking.. so uhh.. I'm certainly aware no results are guaranteed with overclocking, it's the nature of the game, silicon lottery and all. I just like to be future-proof with purchases, and enjoy squeezing more performance where I can. |
