I need to post a question.
It regards Becoming windows 11 compliant by changing out Processor and updating Bios. (Im not sure how on final steps) Current windows 10 home, rev:10.0.19405 Asrock TaiChi 370 with Amd am4 socket Amd Ryzen 7 1700 8core want to use Amd Ryzen 5 5600 (which I read was still compatible and most like my 7 as far as voltage and happen to have) current Bios for Asrock p.5.50 (cant seem to upgrade further at this point or doesnt recognize self boot) Already converted to UEFI, Secure Boot, TPM (virtual switch on) My specific question regards having to update the Bios before INstall of processor? Or Do I change out the processor and then update? If so How do I get past 5.50 as it doesnt seem to recognize self boot. I know I have to leap over my current legacy Ryzen...as there is a warning Not to install others fro the Rzen 7 1700 thnx |

OK, Ive resolved not being able to update from 5.50 to 6.0
(I simply didnt realize ALL my Ports on the front of my case are USB 3.0, I instead utilized a usb 2.0 port from the MoBO itself and it recognized it) NOW i run into the part I am uncertain of I Know I need to next update Bios to 7.0(bridge) and then 7.3 (the last before beta)for the the Ryzen 5 5600 to work However, Can someone plese tell me... Do I do the Bios Updates with current CPU in it ? (the part that confuses me is that above 6.0 the bios versions are not supposed to be installed on Summit Ridge CPU's...which is what the Ryzen 7 1700 is. Does it matter as long as Im still in UEFI? IE: can i Install the updates anyway, just not boot all the way.? Then...after update to 7.30 just turn off pc and Install new CPU and then Boot up? Thanks, there is no point of return on this which is why Im seeking clarification! ;) Thank you |

Is the disk Windows is installed on using MBR or GPT? Disk Management should tell you that.

Yes I had done that step, but thank you!
I guess it had not completely updated its info, I downloaded the windows "pc Check and it said I WAS able to update! :) So this morning I updated, and it all appears to be working! On a similari note: Are the Drivers for the Win 11/Asrock Chipset worth installing? Chipset 4.03 ? Motherboard Utility 3.0 ? Everything is working but I noticed that there are driver updates available for windows 11. And should I just stay at Bios 7.3? Thanks in advance all! |
