Given that you are able to make the system POST at all with the subtimings set as
they are in the JDEC I would guess that they are not too far off the mark, enough to be a problem though. |

Hello, I have an Asrock B650 PG Lightning motherboard.
Ryzen 8400F processor, DDR5 XPG 5600, 16+16 GB. I recently updated BIOS 4.10 and enabled EXPO mode. The memory started running at 5600. Everything worked fine. Before updating, I added additional case fans and connected 4-5 of them to CHA_FUN1 and CHA_FUN2. All fans are 4-pin. CHA_FUN3 was not used. The computer also has a SATA hub with 4 connectors. On the first day after updating and booting into Windows (11), everything worked fine. I use Fan Control to adjust the speed of all the fans in the computer, including the CPU and GPU fans. The next day, after turning on the computer and booting it up, I noticed the fans were running at 100% power and were very noisy. By switching the case fans, I discovered that the fans in the CHA_FUN3 connector, which hadn't been used before the BIOS update and was also controlled by CPU_FUN1 on the processor, were working fine and could be adjusted. Using Chat GPT, I tried all the possible settings in H/W Monitor, switching the operating modes from DC to PW, and other parameters. After trying various firmware versions, I rolled back from 4.10 to 4.03, and now on 3.50, nothing helped. I realized that the CHA_FUN1 and CHA_FUN2 connectors had gone into protection mode due to too many fans connected in parallel to a single port. No more than three were needed. Now, even when connecting one or two fans to CHA_FUN1 and CHA_FUN2, they are not controlled. I tried a full reset by removing the battery from the motherboard for 30 minutes, shorting the contacts, and other similar actions, but it didn't help. I think the problem is that the Embedded Controller is stuck on CHA_FUN1 and CHA_FUN2, and I can't seem to reset it. The case fans are currently connected via a hub and controlled by CHA_FUN3. How can I fix this bug with the Embedded Controller? How do I reset it? |
