There are a number of reasons a system might beep more than once but still complete
POST and boot normally. In every instance it is some part of the POST process that took longer than the system expected. Basically, the system begins to beep a POST code, then that code clears and POST continues. Typically it's either a display taking a bit too long to reply to the system, this can cause more than 2 beeps depending on the length of the delay, or an XMP/EXPO profile that takes longer than it should to pass POST testing. Another thing I have seen cause multiple beeps is an old, dying or slow mechanical HDD though this is rare these days. In all cases it is only a problem if it starts happening out of nowhere where previously it did not. By out of nowhere I mean no changes to the system, including displays, display cables, BIOS updates etc. In cases where the issue existed from the first power on there isn't any cause for concern. It just means POST was going too fast for one of your components. In other words, it's only cause for concern if it is a new symptom. |
