Hello, I have a Deskmini B860. Sometimes when it starts up the CPU Heatsink fan will be stuck at 80-100%. The only way to fix it is to turn it off, and unplug it. I am on the most recent BIOS. 6.01. And Fan is set to Silent in bios. I have also tried to set it with a custom curve.

Hi RAIDER600, there are a few things that can cause fans to spike/stick:
1. Uninstall any monitoring software you are using, a sensor being misread can cause the fans to spike and essentially freeze the fan control from the BIOS. 2. Make sure your fan/s are set to PWM mode in BIOS 3. Check if you have "Intel Dynamic Tuning Technology" installed, if so, uninstall/disable it. If not, install it from your product page: https://www.asrock.com/nettop/Intel/DeskMini%20B860%20Series/index.asp#Download |

1. No monitoring software is installed
2. Fans are set to Silent. I assume that is PWM. There is no indication in the BIOS when you set the fans to the pre configured "Silent" 3. I installed this and restarted. Will report back. |

Checking back in. i still have the issue. CPU FAN is running at 1600rpm, when I have the setting in BIOS set to Silent. The only consistent way to fix this is shut down, and pull the power.
Seems like a BIOS issue.... |

It may be worth opening a support ticket with ASRock and inquiring with them:
https://tw.asrock.com/events/tsd.asp If it is a BIOS issue then they will be the only ones who can help. Alternatively you could wait for the next BIOS update and see if it resolves the issue. The last thing I can think of is maybe trying a different fan on your CPU cooler also the same fan on a different header on the board. The fan's PWM module could be buggy (requiring the power to be turned off to reset). Hope this helps. |
