Currently running R5 1600 in above started motherboard. Bios is P3.60
I have some confusion about bios support. Looking at the support list the 1600 is listed as validated for all current bios. In order to support Ryzen 5000 I need to update to at least 4.50 Can I actually trust being able to make that generational jump without needing another, newer(than 1st gen) processor? |

I did Ryzen 5 2600 to Ryzen 5 5600
ASRock support said to upgrade the BIOS to 5.3 using the old processor. Then put in the new CPU. It'll boot with the old CPU and the new BIOS but you may run into problems running it that way. I would tell ASRock support exactly which CPU to which CPU and they will know if you need a bridge BIOS but I don't think you do. I am not responsible for bricking it but I think you'll be fine. |
