Hello,

I recently started a build with an X299 Pro Gaming i9 board.

MB - Fatal1ty X299 Professional Gaming i9
CPU - Intel i9-9900x
RAM - Gskill DDR4-3200
GPU - Asus ROG Strix RTX2080 Super
Disk - 2 x Inland Pro 2TB NVME M.2

I was able to create a RAID 0 with the 2 NVME drives. I then booted a Windows 10 pro USB and it discovered the volume and installed Windows. Upon first reboot after the initial Windows install the computer hangs at the ASRock splash screen. The DR Diag code I get is A2. If I clear CMOS, then reboot and press F1 to continue, it gets past this. But I have to do this every time.

I also have received an A9 DR Diag code and I cannot find an explanation for that.

I upgraded the BIOS to 2.30 but am still seeing the same issue.

I received a new motherboard and connected just the motherboard, 1 RAM DIMM, and one drive. It starts and gets to the ASROCK logo and I see the "A2" error code. It does not do anything else. It has the menu to press F2 or DEL for setup, etc. but no keypress does anything so I cannot even get into BIOS to upgrade to the linked version 2.31.

Used BIOS flashback (removed CPU) to flash to 2.31 and re-initialized with two drives in NVME RAID.

Was able to install Windows onto the RAID volume.

Windows continued until setup was complete and I have been able to reboot once. The farthest I have gotten so far! :)

Well that did not last long. It worked for one day. Now it shows everything is OK in BIOS but it stops again with the A2 error diag code. One time it tried to boot and said it could not find a boot device.

Anyone know what I can try now? It won't boot at all.

Oh and the power light blinks when it is stuck just sitting at the ASRock logo with "Press F2 or Dell to run UEFI setup..."

It does not accept any keyboard input.

Here is what you can try:
1. Load BIOS default
2. Remove all of the storage devices from the system.
3. Install the storage back one by one to see if it is caused by the storage devices.
4. Try to install the RAM on B2 or A2 slots.

I have already tried the following;

- Loaded BIOS default (this is the only way to get past the lockup and you have to do it every time)
- I removed everything except CPU and RAM - same result
- I used only 1 DIMM and moved that between A1, B1, C1, and D1, trying a boot each time- same result each time
- I installed the storage back and BIOS still sees the M.2 drive but when I try to boot from a Windows USB, the Windows installation does not find any drives.

For these tests I was using a single M.2 drive as the storage device.

In frustration I went ahead and put in an ASUS X299 PRIME A-II motherboard. Everything worked on first try and I have the following running. Except for the motherboard and the Intel 10G adapter these are the components that I wanted to run with this ASRock board.

the CPU (i9-99090X)
4 x 8 GB RAM DIMM
1 x ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 2080 Super graphics card
2 x 2TB NVME RAID 0 (motherboard Intel RST RAID, not VROC)
1 x LSI 9361-8i RAID controller
2 x 2TB SSD (RAID 1) on LSI 9361-8i RAID controller
2 x 12TB 7200 RPM HDD on LSI 9361-8i RAID controller
1 x Intel X540-DA1 10G NIC

Do they have the specification of PCIe Gen3? or PCIe Gen4?
