    Posted: 07 Sep 2018 at 10:18pm
Hello,

I have been able to do a clean install of Win 10 to the ASRcok Ultra Quad Raid 0 array (4xWDC nvme ssds), but cannot get windows to restart, shutdown, or sleep. I have contacted Microsoft, AMD, and Asrock, and nobody has been able to help with this.

I have tried: disabling Windows fast-startup, and disabling hybrid-sleep to no avail (these worked on a standalone nvme SS 960 Pro ssd). I have also tried safe mode and possible other things that I cannot remember at the moment.

Asrock tech support said they had successfully done a 2xnvme raid0 on the ultra quad and the power functions worked fine for them. AMD told me that it is probably an Ultra Quad issue, so I am very confused at how to troubleshoot this. I think it has something to do with the AMD nvme raid drivers (sata-nvme raid v. 9.2.0.70).

Another factor is the difference between the sata-nvme raid only drivers, versus the sata-raid drivers. I do have three sata raid 0 arrays as well, so this get confusing as to if I should be using a combination of these two drivers.

I also know of someone else with the same problem.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to try or how to troubleshoot this? If I cannot get this to work, then the Ultra Quad install will be almost useless even though it is the fastest storage to run Windows O.S. on.

Thanks for any help.

Bryan

I watched a few youtube videos, and none of them touched on the Win10 restart, shutdown, sleep issue that I am having (including Wendell). However, the videos were very informative and interesting, especially the one below that explains optimal configuration of ssds in raid using the Ultra Quad adapter.

Same problem with Windows 8.1 Pro x64.  Posted a message on Wendell's Level 1 Tech forum.  Hope to get some help.

Hi,

Yes, I thought it should be ACPI related, but I have disabled Windows fast-startup and hibernation, including hybrid sleep, and have ensured I have latest AMD chipset and RAID drivers, and updated my UEFI to L3.23B after going back as far as P2.0.  I still have this problem though, as does someone else I know of with same motherboard and Ultra Quad.

I welcome any advice as this definitely seems to be related to the Ultra Quad RAID array (or AMD RAID drivers).

Thanks,

Bryan

Hi, I have watched this video before, and the confusing part is getting the lanes routed to the correct CPU die as I understand it (it needs to be divided between the Ultra Quad and the Motherboard m.2 slots), otherwise, the throughput will not be optimal. Also, I am very familiar with loading the drivers (3-part procedure) and creating a Raid 0 array, but after Windows is installed, the restart, shutdown, and sleep functions do not work. I will continue to research and experiment.

Thanks,

B.
