Where can I find this new BIOS 2.31A for the ASRock Fatal1ty X299 Professional Gaming i9 ?
In ASRock support, there is only version 2.30B. The two LINKs here from this thread don't work anymore. Question: Is there perhaps even an even newer BIOS in the meantime? |

Thanks for the reply. We understand. Any chance if decided to go with ASRock X299 but encounters a problem. Please let us know if you need further assistance. Hello and thank you for the response. Unfortunately I had grown so frustrated with issues with the motherboard that I bought the Asus board I mentioned above to replace it so I cannot tear the build down just to try the new BIOS. I am just going to consider the ASRock board off as an expensive lesson. I purchased it because I needed a lot of PCIe lanes (hence the i9-9900X CPU and X299 chipset) to accommodate a RAID controller and at least one 10G network interface (I need 10G for the large virtual machine appliances I produce and video files that I work on and back up to my server.)
Other than the boot freezes and the long RMA time (though I can definitely understand that during these times), I also had problems with the Aquantia 10G interface dropping packets when it was running for the day (connecting with a Dell/Force10 S3048-ON running OS10 10.5.1.1). I tuned it for jumbo frames and also matched the flow control and port speed with the switch. This is why I switched to an Intel X520 interface and have seen no issues with the interface performance. |

Dear SienaTask,
Thanks for the details. We will check further on this. For the Inland Professional 2TB NVMe. Do they have the specification of PCIe Gen3? or PCIe Gen4? With thanks, ASRock TSD |

I have already tried the following;
- Loaded BIOS default (this is the only way to get past the lockup and you have to do it every time) - I removed everything except CPU and RAM - same result - I used only 1 DIMM and moved that between A1, B1, C1, and D1, trying a boot each time- same result each time - I installed the storage back and BIOS still sees the M.2 drive but when I try to boot from a Windows USB, the Windows installation does not find any drives. For these tests I was using a single M.2 drive as the storage device. In frustration I went ahead and put in an ASUS X299 PRIME A-II motherboard. Everything worked on first try and I have the following running. Except for the motherboard and the Intel 10G adapter these are the components that I wanted to run with this ASRock board. the CPU (i9-99090X) 4 x 8 GB RAM DIMM 1 x ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 2080 Super graphics card 2 x 2TB NVME RAID 0 (motherboard Intel RST RAID, not VROC) 1 x LSI 9361-8i RAID controller 2 x 2TB SSD (RAID 1) on LSI 9361-8i RAID controller 2 x 12TB 7200 RPM HDD on LSI 9361-8i RAID controller 1 x Intel X540-DA1 10G NIC |

Dear SienaTask,
Thanks for the reply. Here is what you can try: 1. Load BIOS default 2. Remove all of the storage devices from the system. 3. Install the storage back one by one to see if it is caused by the storage devices. 4. Try to install the RAM on B2 or A2 slots. With thanks, ASRock TSD Edited by ASRock_TSD - 04 May 2020 at 2:40pm |
