Finally got it working.
A) Win 10 only, Motherboard doesn't support Win 7. (so a bunch of my test failures were due to that.) B) It really seems like the mouse/keyboard must use the 2 USB ports that are right near the old PS/2 style connector. |

Did a bunch more tests. I have 2 different keyboards, and 2 different mice.
All of them work just fine with the BIOS screens via F2. On the keyboard with LEDs - the appropriate ones light up at the correct times. I've tried a Win 7 USB stick, Win 10 USB stick, Win 7 CD. For all of these, the keyboard with LED's starts out correct (Numlock lit) and just as Windows puts up the first screen - the LED goes out. Numlock is lit during "Windows is loading files", and the first half of the time when it shows "Starting Windows". Then the numlock led goes off - and nothing responds anymore. (tried toggling numlock and capslock, leds don't light) I also have a little USB hub plugged in, and the USB power is still on. I've tried multiple USB ports, changing ports while it's running, etc... |

I have: X570 Phantom Gaming 4S P3.20
with a: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 The BIOS can see my mouse and keyboard. The Freedos on the CD works with the keyboard as well. When I use the Win 7 or Win 10 installer, via USB or CD, it gets to the first screen where it's asking to choose language - and I can't do anything. It's either locked up, or it can't see the keyboard and mouse. Any suggestions£ |
