You should have no problem running any nvme M.2 SSD in any motherboard that has a M.2 slot as long as the slot is linked to a PCIe connection, be it PCIe 2.0 or 3.0 x4, you will get best results in the x4 3.0 slot, but it will work in a 2.0 x4 slot at slower speeds if the drive you are installing can do more than 2GB/s Read/Write. There are many Extreme4 motherboards you will need to be more precise in the exact model name.
If the slot is a PCIe M.2 not SATA M.2 slot any nvme drive will work in 99% of cases, these specifications are listen in every motherboards tech info page, and also on laptops tech specs/manuals, so check these and confirm The speed difference between a 2.0 and 3.0 x4 M.2 slot is a theoretical maximum of 2GB/s (Gigabytes/s) for the 2.0 x4 vs about 3.94GB/s for the 3.0 x4 Edited by cristy6100 - 31 Mar 2018 at 11:54pm |
