One name. G.Skill. They don't pass the buck. You have questions, they have answers. Here's the link to memory that G.Skill themselves have tested on your MB. Compatibility is guaranteed. http://www.gskill.com/en/configurator?manu=52&chip=2484&model=2512 Edited by wardog - 16 Dec 2016 at 10:17pm |

Corsair said they're not listed on the QVL list so they can't recommend them. My ram didn't come up when I went through Corsair's compatibility checker but when I searched for ram by board on their website it was listed. Really seems like they're passing the buck on this.

And did send them a ticket asking about the compatibility. Should get back to me in a day or two.

Yeah they are in A1 and B1. Too tired tonight. Will test out some of the suggestions in the next few days. 12 hour days and an hour commute drain the energy out of me.

Your MB Manual will show you which memory slots are A1 and B1. |

Yea, shoot 'em an email through Tech Support and inquire of compatibility. Keep us posted when they reply please. |

Looks like my type and speed of memory is supported up to 8gb sticks but the 16GB sticks aren't listed. Could be not labeled as compatible or they just haven't updated the list since the 16gb chips have come out I don't know.

At work so I apologize for lack of information. I'm running Windows 10, the ram is in the furthest left and 3rd from left slots, and the type of ram is 3200mhz lpx:
Corsair LPX 32GB 2 x 16GB Memory https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016ORTNI2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_iwDuyb0N86MYM I purchased 2 more sticks so I'll be populating all the slots once I install the other 2. I've tried setting the ram to default setting and to the 3200mhz setting but haven't tried much else as it seemed to be working properly since it would post and run in the scenario I described. I'll try out the suggestions and look more into that when I get home. I'll also check the approved list once I get home and can double check the specific model number on the packaging of the ram. Thank you for the help everyone. |

Your problem is not a known issue with this board. I have this board, and mine does not do what you described. Your board is this model: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z170%20Extreme7+/ What UEFI/BIOS version are you using? We need the full model number of your memory to check for compatibility, which you could check with the link wardog provided, or check the Memory Support list on your board's information page, above. No idea what speed your memory is, the greater the memory capacity being used, the more difficult it is for the CPU's memory controller to deal with. Are you using the XMP profile? DIMMs greater than 4GB in size should be used in the A1 and B1 slots. What version of Windows are you using? In the UEFI/BIOS, OC Tweaker, DRAM Configuration screen, all the way at the bottom of the screen, setting the MRC Fast Boot option to Disabled. That will cause memory training to occur during POST, which may help with the 55 POST code. |
