Building a new desktop computer. Z170 K4 MB, Intel i5 6600K processor, MSI Geforce GTX 1060 graphics card. WD 500GB SSD in port0, WD 1TB SATA in port1. Bluray drive in port2. 1 stick G.Skill DDR4 8gb on slot 0. I am getting no video from graphics card or from on-board DVI port. Does any one have any ideas?

Hi Ken,

1. Double check you haven't overlooked plugging in the 8-pin CPU Power located at the "top' of the board.

2. What is the PN of the G.Skill 8GB stick you have? Have you gone to G.Skill's RAM Configurator to check that it is compatible?

I triple checked all pwr cables, and they are correct, and specifically that one. According to ASRock's website the memory modules are compatible. They are p/n F4-3200C16Q-32GTZB. I had 4 installed, but since they were verified with 2, I dropped down to 2 and then 1.
I am getting no video, so I have no idea if bios is starting.

Pull out the graphics card, reset/clear CMOS and see if the cpu provides video output. Try the HDMI out as well.

Maybe I am mis-reading the list. On the ASrock website, under memory support list, if I sort by manufacturer, the 7th line lists F4-3200C16Q-32GTZ. What is the difference? Also, I am down to 1 or 2 with no difference.

I also noticed that keyboard is not powering up. Mean anything?

The B at the end means these sticks are a second iteration and thus carry differently binned chips on the sticks. Not compatible.

Ok, my mistake. Is there a way to verify that there is not another problem before buying more? If I remove all memory will I atleast get an error shown on the monitor, or something to tell me that the MB is good?

Unfortunately no. There isn't.

Any friend(s) that might help here in the way of DDR4?

A local computer shop test to swap some of their mem in would be a minimal charge to you. Just a thought .....
