Z170 Extreme7+ not rebooting

Looks like the bios update fixed almost everything.  Haven't thrown the other 2 sticks of ram in yet but everything else is working (4.5ghz overclock and ram at 3200).  Only other issue that started up before I updated the bios (so I know that wasn't it) is the bios freezes up sometimes for 10-30 seconds.  Only ever locked up on me once and that was pre-update but worked after a reboot.  I've read other people have had this problem as well but if the ram works once I get it all in then hopefully I'll not have to worry about going into the bios again anytime soon.

Sorry I should have checked the bios version to start with but I'd never heard of a bios fixing ram compatibility issues before.  Glad someone suggested it.  Haven't built a system in 4 or 5 years and really doing so worries me from horror stories from back in the day.

You had an over one year old UEFI version, and there have been some important updates since then.

Memory compatibility improvements are common in UEFI updates now. There are two memory compatibility updates since version 2.10, you have all of them now. DDR4 memory is still in its childhood, only two PC platforms currently support it, Intel X99 and Intel 100 series chipset boards, like your Z170. That will change in 2017.

If and when you put your other DIMMs in the board, I suggest you do this: First save your current UEFI settings in a profile, which is done in the OC Tweaker page. Then shutdown the PC, remove AC power, open it up and insert you other DIMMs. Use the jumper on the board to clear UEFI/BIOS, put it back in the normal position, put it all back together and start it up. After the UEFI clear, ALL the options will be back to there default settings, so you'll need to restore them manually or with the saved profile. I suggest trying all your memory at its default speed first, which is most likely 2133, which will be set by default.

If the PC boots with all the memory at 2133, use it for a while like that, and then try to increase the speed. Normally, the more memory used, the more difficult it is to operate it at high speeds. You can see that shown in your boards Memory Support List. At the highest memory speeds, only two DIMMs can usually be used, but that is at speeds above 3200. You may not reach 3200 with all your memory, or it will take some adjustment to get it there, or close to it.

The latest 7.30 UEFI has both an updated MEI and IRST ROM for those of us running RAID and m.2 devices. Also the ASRock site has new motherboard drivers to support the changes to the UEFI.

And just for fun I tried upping the processor speed to 5.0ghz and it booted fine but locked going into windows.  I'll get around to trying to overclock it more sometime but 4.5ghz will keep me happy for a while.
