    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 at 11:13pm
Purchased a new build and ran into trouble getting the video to display. When I plug a monitor in, the monitor does not detect anything. Tried with two different monitors and with displayPort and HDMI plugged into video card (also tried using the onboard ports and it expectedly did not work).

Not sure were to go from here as we have also tried multiple steps to troubleshoot:

1. Reseat RAM
2. Reseat RAM in every conceivable configuration
3. Reseat video card
4. Reseat processor
5. Reset CMOS with jumper

The LED lights and fans turn on each time.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to try next without dropping big $$ for new memory, video or processor?

Below is the configuration that is installed:

Thanks for any help that you can give. I bought the board back in November but just received it yesterday (Jan 2) because shipping delays...   Not sure if I can return the board :(.

hmmmmmmm something is broken them im guessing
i know there can be an issue with the gpu bios in the top slot hence why i suggested using bottom pci x4 slot which seems to ignore this problem to boot
the only other thing i can think of is check to make sure
your video cables DO NOT use a convertor of any kind
e.g. dvi to vga plugs for old monitors etc

ya cables are straight up HDMI > HDMI or when I connect to DisplayPort, they are DisplayPort > DisplayPort. Cables and monitors work fine when connected to other computers.

oddly enough, when I plug in a USB keyboard, it doesn't seem to be running power to the keyboard as well. The NumLock, Scroll lock lights on the keyboard do not light up either. I tried using all the available USB ports and none of the USB ports appear to be working.
    -thanks

    Vanillarut,

Did you get the problem resolved? I am wondering if our problems are related (see "Allen is stuck" post about Numlock). You mentioned that the numlock light did not come on, maybe that is not a power issue but a not connecting at all issue (which if you can't see screen, you would not know that the numlock is off?).

Anyway just wondering if you got it fixed....
    Allen
I REALLY appreciate your help, Allen

Disconnect all non-essential devices, remove one stick of RAM and systematically test the memory stick in each DIMM slot, repeat the process for the second stick.
