I have 4 modules of 4gb model Gskill F4-2400c15-4grk. The bios detects the 16 and only lets you use 8. The same happens in windows, the CPU-z application shows the 16 but the windows only lets you use 8. See the images. . Everything was working perfectly on my previous motherboard model MSI x99x Gaming 7.
I need a bios update for better compatibility. I have the bios 1.40 which came on the mother board. Edited by betowender - 01 Feb 2017 at 4:37pm |

Update the BIOS to the latest version using the "instant flash" option. It is the safest method and we always recommend it.

1.40 is the latest. BETA or not.
What is the 16GB(4x4GB) G.Skill kit, KIT, part number. What version/flavor of Windows is this reporting as 8GB usable? Windows key > Run > msconfig > Boot tab > Advanced options > Maximum memory - if this is checked then uncheck it, click OK, then Apply, and reboot immediately afterwards. |

Thanks for reply.
At the moment I'm not near the pc to see the Party Number. I'll check and then I'll let you know. But I can say that I use Windows 10 x64 more updated. Did you see the pictures? The image number 2 shows in Bios that only 2 detected modules, but in the other images of Bios they show all 4. I think we need a new bios update. |

Thanks for the pics. Got 'em both.
While appreciating both choices of the two high performance kits you have, neither is certified by G.Skill or Corsair to function on the X99 Gaming i7. Regardless of the motherboard manufacturer all X99 systems are extremely finicky concerning memory. I hate to say it but you've fallen prey to the downside of X99 memory compatibility in your two choices of memory kits you have. Picking and choosing memory for an X99 system differs greatly compared to the previous generations where a gray area existed. The motherboard manufacturers _and_ memory manufacturers are acutely aware of what does and what does not function on Brand X's X99 motherboard. Regarding this, you can choose to contact ASRock Tech Support yet I fear a BIOS being issued to address your compatibility issues wouldn't be something I'd hold my breath on. It's deeper than simply BIOS issue. Nor is is strictly an ASRock "issue" as all brands of X99 boards are finicky. It's inherent to the X99 platform in general. If you still have a return grace period on one or both kits I highly recommend returning one or both kits and in their absence instead choose a compatible kits using the below memory manufacturers Memory Finder compatibility matrix's. This way you forego the compatibility headaches and instead receive a kit that has been tested on/against the X99 Gaming i7 and comes with a Guarantee of Compatibility by them. A short list compiled and updated by myself while helping Users here determine compatibility issues. http://www.gskill.com/en/configurator http://www.corsair.com/en-us/memory-finder https://patriotmemory.com/memory-finder/ https://www.kingston.com/us/memory/search/Options http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/advisor?cm_re=top-nav-_-flyout-memory-_-us-memory-advisor http://www.pny.com/support/memory-configurator Keep me posted please. And know, I feel your pain. Benn there, done that. |
